Right next door to the existing Fairfield Inn on Ontairo St., and very close to an existing Courtyard as well.
Their marketing blurb is a bit thick.

Second Autograph Added to Chicago
Was unaware something was on the books for a new place, but is now posted online. East side of Michigan avenue and only a block off. Nonetheless, another one to try!

For a moment there, I thought that this was the Red Roof Inn that had been somehow converted into an Autograph property. Turns out this "EMC2" property is up the block (228 East Ontario) from the Red Roof Inn (162 East Ontario).
David
p.s. Found the Red Roof Inn back in the 90's when the conference I was going to was being held at the Marriott (which I couldn't afford as a grad student).

Excerpt:
"The science-themed Hotel EMC2 opened in the Chicago's Streeterville district last week. The new hotel is a member of Marriott's Autograph Collection. The 195-room hotel touts its celebration of "the convergence of art and science" and features various tributes to the world's most renowned scientists and inventors, including a quote from Leonardo da Vinci displayed at the building's entry and a 120-seat restaurant called The Albert (as in Einstein).
As part of its scientific emphasis, the hotel will donate as much as $50,000 this year to Chicago-based Project SYNCERE (Support Youth's Needs with Core Engineering Research Experiments)."
Look forward to the first trip report!
Cheers.
