Rennaissance Ilikai Hotel- Honolulu

This is a "new" Rennaissance property in Hawaii. Has anyone stayed at this hotel? I have the opportunity of redeeming some points for a week long trip but can't find much info on the hotel. The web site shows a lame picture of the pool and that's it. No pictures of a room etc..

Any input will be appreciated.

Don't know about the Rennaissance, but I highly recomend the JW Marriott Resort Ihilani. It's on Oahu also. About 15 min from HNL. The beach there is wonderful, you can stick your head in the water and see 30-40 fish. Wonderful staff. Great Golf. Right next to Paradise Cove which has a great Luau.
Highly recomend.

The "new" Renaissance hotel is actually the old Ilikai hotel. If you ever watched Hawaii Five-O, it is the hotel balcony in the opening credits.

More recently, it was host to the PIP tennis match between Rudi and KokoNutz so it is famous . The hotel has not been upkept very well, but is centrally located to Waikiki and town.

Thanks for the responses.

rthib: I may be traveling to Hawaii alone and think that the JW Marriott may be too far away from all the action so to speak.

TropicalFlyer: Do you know if Marriott has done some reservations to the hotel? I like it's location and so far I will be able to redeem points for a 5-7 night stay. I am concerned, however, when you say that it has not been upkept very well.

I was at Ihilani 3 or 4 years ago (when it was run by ANA or Nikko) and it is beautiful. Very upscale, ie no waterfalls and fountains. I thought I read somewhere that the Ilikai is being renovated, so see if you can get in the "new" section.

On the bright side, it requires fewer points to redeem.

I have redeemed 100K points for a 7 day stay. I hope I'll like it!

Thanks for the feedback!
