Earn Marriott Rewards credit for stay reserved through Total Rewards casino site?

I reserved a highly discounted hotel stay at a Ritz Carlton hotel through totalrewards.com. The confirmation # I was given is a Total Rewards confirmation number, and not a Marriott or Ritz confirmation #. I was wondering a) if it's possible to have my Marriott Rewards # added to the reservation somehow, and b) if I would receive credit/points for the stay? I'm mostly wondering if this will count towards the current Summer Bonus 2012 offer.

Did you already pay for the stay or will you be paying the hotel directly when you check out?

Why not just call the hotel in CLE directly?

I was just curious what others' experience was with this. I did a search, and couldn't find any other posts about this. I'll post an update once I find more out from the hotel.

If you go thru to Marriott.com, you will earn points. If this is a private booking engine, I would likely say no, but I have read, that certain of the owners of the casino also own the subject hotels in question, the R/C, the Marriott and the Renaissance. Since it is up to the hotels in question to give you the points, it looks to really be a sort of discretionary thing on their part.

Room rate was disclosed. I was able to add my MR # at check-in, which is a good sign. I can now see the reservation on mariott.com. I'll let everyone know whether stay credit posts to my MR account after check out.

Why wouldn't he? It would be one thing if it were a comped room - but he'd get a stay credit if he paid something that wasn't part of the comp.

I really think my quesiton above needs to be answered:

Did you already pay for the stay or will you be paying the hotel directly when you check out?
My experience has been that if you pay a third party for the room you do not get points and nights. But if you book the reservation thru a third party and pay, with your own c.c. when you arrive or check out, you do.

Everyone should re-read my post above. The hotels are owned by the same owner as the casino and its site. It is not pre-paid, as far as I know and the hotel is chosen, so not a grey booking site.

Since OP stated that he can now see his stay online on Marriott.com and they took his number, it augurs well that he will get points. However, it certainly is at the discretion of the property inasmuch as the rate was not booked on Marriott.com and therefore they are within their rights to deny him same.

After re-reading it, I see that it was the OP, himself, who advised that the hotels are owned by the same entity that owns or co=owns the casino.

Hi everyone - just a few things to clear up some questions:

1) I didn't realize it until I checked out of the hotel, but I pre-paid for the reservation in full on the totalrewards.com website. My bill at checkout was $0. totalrewards.com did not charge any taxes or additional fees on top of the promotional rate. The totalrewards.com reservation was fully cancel-able/refundable up to 24 hours before the stay.

2) Rock Ohio Caesars (the casino owner) definitely did buy the Ritz Carlton hotel in Cleveland. See http://www.cleveland.com/business/in...buy_cleve.html . There is no mention of the casino owner also buying the Marriott and Renaissance hotels in Cleveland, though discounted rates for those hotels are often available through totalrewards.com.

3) Though I had no problems adding my MR # to my reservation at check-in, I do not see any stay credit or record of the reservation in my MR account after I checked out. I guess that answers my question!
