This thread refers to the various Marriott brands within a specific geographic area. Marriott Bonvoy hotels in XX usually have posts asking which property is better, etc. Trip reports are usually better suited in the property specific threads.

Marriott Bonvoy hotels in Indianapolis, IN
Has anyone stayed at this property? I have stayed at the Westin in the past (and didn't much like the service), and the Marriott has a much better rate.

Which one are you talking about?
If you mean the Marriott Indianapois NORTH, then this is an awesome hotel. I have stayed there four times; once it was a 65 minute drive to my destiantion. It was worth it.
Hotel is new (only 1.5 years old) and I have found the staff very nice and helpful. The rooms are clean and a little larger (I think).
There is also a nice mall really close by as well as quite a few restaurants. A little hard to actually get into (but email me at [email protected] and I can give them to you).
Cheers!

No, I meant the one on 21st St. It's called the Indianapolis Marriott or the Marriott Indianapolis. The Indianapolis North property might be a little far for the time I have.

Well, I did stay at that hotel -- once. No explanation is needed by Marriott to explain the fact they are building a *new* Indy Marriott downtown (due to open March, 2001).
It is older, no lounge (that I can remember) and just doesn't seem to have that "upscale Marriott feel" to it.

Thanks, DrHowser. I think I'll stick to the Westin this trip and keep the Marriott North in mind for when I have more time.

Indianapolis Marriott-must cancel two days in advance
I just booked the government rate at the Indianapolis Marriott. Much to my surprise, rate rules require cancellation two days in advance. For many, if not most, government travelers, this would preclude staying at that hotel, and somewhat negates the purpose of a government rate. For comparison, the nearby Westin allows cancellation until 11:00 PM day of arrival. I called the Marriott, and after checking with a "manager",the reservation clerk told me that the hotel would "generally" waive the two day requirement. This doesn't make me feel much better, because the reservation still specifically states the 2-day requirement. Other than resort properties, has anybody heard of similar cancellation requirements at Marriotts?

Boy, unless they have done some major renovations, the Indy Marriott is not worth the trouble. I thought it was a very ordinary hotel in every way. One of those wake-up-now-where-am-I Marriotts

By the way, the hotel itself is quite nice, as nice as the next door Westin, and the rooms are larger than the Westin. But the horrendous cancellation policy negates whatever other advantages the hotel has. Maybe that's why President Bush stayed at the Westin last week.
