If I were others, I'd just PM Philly. My guess is Marriott figured out the gift card thing from last year & thus excluded it (although really they shouldn't, as they're legit).

Cheers.

I have tried 20 ways till Sunday using my Corp. AMEX and my personal VISA for incidentals and to date nothing has worked for me, but your experiences may vary.

I have spoken with Marriott about this and they are clear the promo is in conjunction with VISA (who pays for some/all of the promo ?????) and that I should encourage AMEX to work with Marriott in the future. The person I spoke with reminded me that in the past AMEX used to be the featured card for the MegaBonus promo and they could be again (if the deal was right???).

I wonder why we all assume that what "I do" makes me one of the
"Most profitable" LOL!

I expect that Marriott has a pretty good idea after all these years of what the "promotion" costs and earns and feels like the Visa link pays more then the travelers who will stomp thier feet and head to Starwood or Hilton.

As for me I have been on both sides but did not take it as a personal attack when Marriott announced something like this. It's just business not a "Marriott doesn't love me" moment! (And no, they don't love you, they love $$$ Marriott is a corporation!)

Let's not forget that we also have had a Spring and Summer Megabonus that were pay however you want. Marriott and Amex are not "together". Yeah, it sucks for those of us who have strong ties to Amex or are stuck on a corporate Amex card. But it's one Megabonus...it's not the end of the world.

And hey... Chase has 2 great Visa deals going. One is 50k Marriott points for the Premier card and one is 100k Marriott points for the regular card (check out those threads). If you are up for a new card, those would be really good to have along with this Megabonus (a night toward status every $3k spend or somesuch).

I can find the Premier 50k offer in several threads, but I just tried searching for the 100k offer in several ways and cannot seem to find anything about such an offer. Can you please point to the thread about the 100k offer for the regular card? Thanks!

As it's now Aug. 12, does anyone have more details regarding the fall promotion?

I got this less than attractive offer:

Stay at any of our 3,400+ participating hotels worldwide between September 15, 2011, and January 15, 2012.
Earn 5,000 points for each 2nd paid stay—up to 20,000 points—when you use your Visa card

I´m a Plat.

"Earn 25,000 points after 15 paid nights + an additional 15,000 points after 20 paid nights (up to 40,000) when you use your Visa® card"

...wonder if there's a higher bonus this time around.

How ironic. I got offered this as a plat:

Earn 35,000 points after 20 paid nights + an additional 15,000 points after 25 paid nights (up to 50,000) when you use your Visa® card

Not sure I will make 20 nights, 'cuz we have to book some nights for my wife to keep her gold. I think I would have done better with the offer you got.

I have to call them about another situation on Monday, and I´ll ask for a promotion change. I have three medium stay future reservations, (total 27 nights) so the promotion they gave me is pretty much useless. I´d end up with a measly 5,000 points.
