Hotel Website: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Autograph Collection
Official List of Cosmopolitan Bonvoy Elite Benefits: https://www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com/marriott-bonvoy-at-the-cosmopolitan-of-las-vegas
The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, the only charges that qualify for Points are as follows:
- Room rate, room service food and beverage, in-room movies, phone calls and in-room minibar purchases
- Points cannot be earned on any other purchases at hotel outlets or for hotel services
The Cosmopolitan is a "resort," so basically the only elite benny is a possible upgrade. Elites are not exempt from the resort fee
Resort fee is $39+tax effective 01/01/2019. Also as of that date, parking (self & valet) is complimentary for hotel guests.
Cosmopolitan is exempt from providing free wifi to Plats per Marriott's T&Cs, however it is included with the mandatory $39 daily resort fee so there is still no extra charge to any guest for using it.
Platinums receive:
* use of Platinum check-in area (to the left of main desks)
* Platinum arrival gift is $10FB coupon or 1,000 points
* room upgrade (space available) - better luck on mid-week stays than weekend stays. sometimes a 'sandwich' (ie, bribe) to front desk does the trick.
* free tea/coffee 6am - noon in the plat lobby check-in area
* Wicked Spoon: Marriott Rewards Platinums (and PPs) get to use preferred line and get 15% discount when staying at the property. Just show your MR Plat or PP card.
You can book through Virtuoso as well as Amex FHR for complimentary breakfast buffet at Wicked spoon.
Resort fee:
* $39 (+ tax) per day for resort fee, which includes gym access, local + long distance calls, Wifi, pool access. The resort fee is not waived.
Receiving Bonvoy Points for a Stay:
Many have reported needing to follow up to have Marriott Bonvoy points manually posted post stay (they do not typically post automatically.) A tip is to email [email protected] shortly after a stay asking them to manually forward your folio to Marriott Bonvoy for processing.
Hat tip to billycwhatup for this:
* Identity points and MR points can not be earned on the same stay
Other tips
The Terrace Suites are the most common room type and are classified as studio and one bedroom, with options for King, 2 Queens with or without a fountain view. They are essentially the same size, however (10 sq ft difference), but the layouts differ.
The King Studio Suite has a standard bathroom with shower and tub, a living room area with large sitting area and an L shaped sofa and the bed is in a separate area, though not separated.
The King One BR Suite has the same kind of living room area, with the bedroom separated by sliding doors and the bathroom is larger, with a "soaking tub".
If you get a terrace suite of any kind with 2 Queens, the living area will be smaller.
And unless your room type is described as "fountain view", you aren't guaranteed it, though Platinum status will get you upgraded on check in if they have one available.
If you book any of these room types and want to aim higher, I would try a giving the receptionist a 50$ "sandwich", and ask if any wraparounds upgrades would be available. If they say yes, there is a good chance that it will be a wraparound facing south-east or south-west, which for me would be a no go. Taste in view is personal of course, but for me the fountain-Eiffel tower view are so much nicer than the south facing views. Also when you would have the choice between a low level wraparound or high level terrace suite, I would still take the high level terrace suite, because a number of floors on the east tower are blocked by the big Bellagio sign. (see youtube vids).
If you really want a high level wraparound then you probably would have to pay, which can sometimes be not that much. If I'm not mistaken I think they offered me a wraparound at 150$ per night more, but we originally booked a 1 bedroom terrace room without view.
Last tip : If you would get the choice of wraparound I would definitely take a high floor east tower one, facing north-east. That would give you bellagio fountain + eiffel tower view, but also a good portion of the south strip.

Stayed here last year on a "momcation" in two city rooms and they were about 20 floors apart. Total bummer when we wanted to all be together and have fun. Planning to go back this year in May again and wondered what would be the best way to ensure we have adjoining rooms -- maybe three, but definitely two. Will have a total of eight, maybe 11 girls so king suites don't help much as we need minimum two beds to a room. (Husband is a Plat so we will use his status for booking and checking in.) Thanks!

The Renaissance is one of the most consistently inconsistent Marriott properties when it comes to treatment of Marriott Elites that I have ever stayed at.
Having said that, the Renaissance has been my go to LAS property for a numbers of years now and I would say out of 12 or so times, I have been upgraded about 3 or 4 of those times to a fairly nice suite without asking, twice I had to ask if any upgrades were available and once or even twice I was offered an upgrade for a small fee.
Also, I have been given breakfast coupons on weekend stays, but it was not consistent by any means. In fact speaking of inconsistent, twice the lounge was open on the weekend, both times the Front Desk agent saying that there were so many PLT/GLDs in residence that the GM decided to open the lounge.

Dan, if you're back in Vegas check out the Vegas Marriott which is at the other end of the convention center (and about equi-distance to the monorail). All rooms are suites, no clang-clang, no smoke, free bkfst buffet daily for Gold/Plats, and some of THE most customer service-oriented staff I've ever encountered.
Cheers.

Eat at the buffet
One of the best hotels in Vegas IMO and they do treat Plats well. I did say hotel, not casino. On award stay, great upgrade to corner suite. Great room, quiet, views. Would recommend this hotel to anyone with $ or points. Weekday breakfast coupon on Thanksgiving morning saved me about a 1hr wait in buffet line as Plat members get bumped to beginning of line with VIP table, many evil eyes my way that morning.
Great location too, just bring walking shoes. Staff, food, service were all outstanding.

I have only been upgraded from studio to one bedroom w/ view the past few times. I might just bite the bullet and use extra points to book the suite so I should get bumped up to the wraparound.
Nothing better than skipping that giant line for the buffet. Great perk.

The Las Vegas Hilton allows (or at least did) Hilton Golds/Diamonds to skip the buffet line queue as well (though the Hilton buffet is nothing special).
I am not a casino person, but the Cosmo felt more hotel than casino to me, which IMHO is a good thing.
I have the same feeling about the J.W. Marriott in Lake Las Vegas, it is a hotel with a casino a short walk away.

It's seems to be difficult if not impossible to get several rooms together as rooms seem to be allocated as they become available (as people check out and they get cleaned). This applies to most Vegas hotels. Most of the time when I check in at Cosmo there are no rooms ready, so the odds of getting two adjacent rooms ready at the same time to be allocated for you is either going to require a significant wait and/or some effort from the FD and/or some luck. If you want more than 2 rooms together, good luck unless it is a very slow day.

I am a double Platinum with the Cosmopolitan (Platinum Premier through Marriott and Platinum Identity Card). I had both Platinum Premier and my host try to arrange adjoining rooms and neither could guarantee a Wraparound Terrace Suite with an attached Terrace Suite.
I also have a casino host at the hotel.

Which room type did you book the award on - Terrace Studio or Terrace Suite with upgrade coupons? Hoping to get a wraparound this time around.

Checking in here for the first time this Saturday and received an e-mail from Cosmo with a general welcome e-mail. In the email they talk about mobile check-in before arrival. Has anyone ever used before? How does this work? I would think I am better off speaking with someone in the hopes of getting the room/view we want.
We booked a Terrace Suite and requested via email an upgrade to wraparound w/view if available. Checked my reservation on-line and they have my preferred room type as wraparound but no mention of a view - hopefully they can make that work. Otherwise I will stick with the Terrace Suite, which I believe all have fountain views.

Just checked out yesterday and wanted to give an update on the resort fees. We are Marriott Platinums and booked prior to the resort fee being implemented. We checked-in Saturday at the Platinum desk (to the right of the main check-in, which was a zoo) and they did not mention anything about the resort fee until I raised it with them and told them I wished to decline and she agreed saying "you already get free internet as a platinum". Well fast forward to check-out yesterday and we get a print-out of our bill and notice a $15/day charge for internet. They explained to me that since I declined the resort fee, which included internet, that it then becomes an a la carte service. I began to protest a bit and she took the charge off the bill. Be aware and check your bills when staying here.
Also, I used a Marriott Gift Card with no problem.
