Hotel Website: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Autograph Collection
Official List of Cosmopolitan Bonvoy Elite Benefits: https://www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com/marriott-bonvoy-at-the-cosmopolitan-of-las-vegas

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, the only charges that qualify for Points are as follows:
- Room rate, room service food and beverage, in-room movies, phone calls and in-room minibar purchases
- Points cannot be earned on any other purchases at hotel outlets or for hotel services

The Cosmopolitan is a "resort," so basically the only elite benny is a possible upgrade. Elites are not exempt from the resort fee

Resort fee is $39+tax effective 01/01/2019. Also as of that date, parking (self & valet) is complimentary for hotel guests.

Cosmopolitan is exempt from providing free wifi to Plats per Marriott's T&Cs, however it is included with the mandatory $39 daily resort fee so there is still no extra charge to any guest for using it.

Platinums receive:

* use of Platinum check-in area (to the left of main desks)

* Platinum arrival gift is $10FB coupon or 1,000 points

* room upgrade (space available) - better luck on mid-week stays than weekend stays. sometimes a 'sandwich' (ie, bribe) to front desk does the trick.

* free tea/coffee 6am - noon in the plat lobby check-in area

* Wicked Spoon: Marriott Rewards Platinums (and PPs) get to use preferred line and get 15% discount when staying at the property. Just show your MR Plat or PP card.
You can book through Virtuoso as well as Amex FHR for complimentary breakfast buffet at Wicked spoon.

Resort fee:

* $39 (+ tax) per day for resort fee, which includes gym access, local + long distance calls, Wifi, pool access. The resort fee is not waived.

Receiving Bonvoy Points for a Stay:

Many have reported needing to follow up to have Marriott Bonvoy points manually posted post stay (they do not typically post automatically.) A tip is to email [email protected] shortly after a stay asking them to manually forward your folio to Marriott Bonvoy for processing.

Hat tip to billycwhatup for this:

* Identity points and MR points can not be earned on the same stay

Other tips

The Terrace Suites are the most common room type and are classified as studio and one bedroom, with options for King, 2 Queens with or without a fountain view. They are essentially the same size, however (10 sq ft difference), but the layouts differ.

The King Studio Suite has a standard bathroom with shower and tub, a living room area with large sitting area and an L shaped sofa and the bed is in a separate area, though not separated.

The King One BR Suite has the same kind of living room area, with the bedroom separated by sliding doors and the bathroom is larger, with a "soaking tub".

If you get a terrace suite of any kind with 2 Queens, the living area will be smaller.

And unless your room type is described as "fountain view", you aren't guaranteed it, though Platinum status will get you upgraded on check in if they have one available.

If you book any of these room types and want to aim higher, I would try a giving the receptionist a 50$ "sandwich", and ask if any wraparounds upgrades would be available. If they say yes, there is a good chance that it will be a wraparound facing south-east or south-west, which for me would be a no go. Taste in view is personal of course, but for me the fountain-Eiffel tower view are so much nicer than the south facing views. Also when you would have the choice between a low level wraparound or high level terrace suite, I would still take the high level terrace suite, because a number of floors on the east tower are blocked by the big Bellagio sign. (see youtube vids).

If you really want a high level wraparound then you probably would have to pay, which can sometimes be not that much. If I'm not mistaken I think they offered me a wraparound at 150$ per night more, but we originally booked a 1 bedroom terrace room without view.

Last tip : If you would get the choice of wraparound I would definitely take a high floor east tower one, facing north-east. That would give you bellagio fountain + eiffel tower view, but also a good portion of the south strip.

So, I had the pleasure of taking a hard-hat tour of this hotel through a friend of a friend...

For lack of a better term, this hotel is going to be phenomenal.

I was able to see 2 of their suites & a regular room - the suites are amazing. Everything from the wallpaper in the bathroom to bar fixture glasses to the TV panels - this hotel is definitely going the extra mile.

They have corner suites with wrap-around decks on every corner on every floor. The furniture & decor in the rooms, IMHO, definitely rival that of the other high end hotels (and I've been to Venetian, Palazzo, Wynn, Bellagio, Aria, Vdara, MGM, Monte Carlo, MGM Signature). If one wants to stay on the Strip, this is going to be one of the best hotels on the Strip.

The gaming floor is very stylish & hip (can't really compare it to any casino in town - it's stylish, yet comfortable - the chandeliers are amazing). The club will be run by the folks that run Tao, which is one of my favorite Vegas clubs. To answer bdstone's question, I belive european bathing pool will be the Day Club pool (seriously).

I'm not going to go into too much detail as it was a hard-hat tour & the hotel still has a lot that needs to be done, but everything I heard on the tour makes me think that this hotel is going to be one of the best hotels on the Strip from a service perspective and from a style/glamour/hip/awesome perspective too.

Will definitely look forward to checking it out when it opens.

So glad we have any chained name hotel on the strip

This is great news that we have a vegas hotel on the strip that will be affiliated with a brand name hotel since PH lost it partnership with SPG. I'm not sure how successful this will be based on recent activity in Vegas. However, it sure would make me want to go more often. I hope they honor the MR platinums very highly (such as suite upgrades, concierge lounge, special check-in lines, maybe even some casino/spa credits).

I did check the marriott site today to see if I can book this hotel and it's not on the list. Hopefully this will show up soon. But knowing the recent past delayed openings of past hotels, such as Encore and Palazzo, that may be the reason why marriott haven't put this hotel on this reservation list (but then again I'm totally speculating on this).

Yeah but can't be surprised given the cash value per room and the fact that the location is on the strip. The only benefit I see is if you don't current receive comps from the usual strip hotel chains (MGM, Venetian, Wynn, Harrahs) and you want to hope for an upgrade using MR points, this would be ideal.

I did see the rate for the first weekend that it opens start at $275/night. Way too steep especially if you are collecting comps for the other strip hotels.

I stayed at Vdara in September - upgraded due to room issues to an apartment suite - this was an incredible hotel. Nice view of the Cosmo undergoing finishing touches next door while I was there - looks like a really nice place

I just booked a reward stay for January. The terraced studio is the one with a the outdoor space looking over the strip. It only comes in a King. You can get a standard room with two queens but the property manager said the studio is actually larger an they will provide a cot. Looking forward to hearing the early reports.

I'm thinking of booking a reward stay for my birthday at the end of December and would like to know if anyone thinks breakfast will be free for plats and if they have a lounge? According to the site breakfast is free at "Available at participating Marriott Hotels, JW Marriott Hotels, Renaissance Hotels, Autograph Collection and Marriott Conference Centers (Not available at resort locations)."

I have never been to or even seen an "autograph collection". Thoughts?

I don't see why not. Its an Autograph Collection hotel and no indication its a resort.

From what I understood on my tour, they will have an Exec Lounge. Though I can't confirm this, IIRC, it's going to be a combined lounge space for the "high rollers" players club members too.

I've got a buddy who used to work at the Venetian who will be working there in Sales - if there are any other questions, I can try to ask - but I can't promise an answer as I know they're extremely busy with the ramping up & the training there.

Property Information says:
•52 floors, 550 rooms
•56 meeting rooms, 150,000 sq ft of total meeting space
•This hotel has a smoke-free policy

Opens Dec 15th.

No mention of a concierge lounge. If no lounge then breakfast would have to be provided as part of the Marriott guarantee for Marriotts, Rens, JW's, and Autograph hotels.

It would be a shame if no lounge for such a luxury hotel.
