UPDATE: Free Internet Access for Gold and Platinum Elite Members

Greetings, FlyerTalk community.

As many of you may recall, I announced a new benefit, starting May 7: Free Internet Access for Gold and Platinum Elite Members. I am now happy to announce even more good news, thanks to your feedback!

In addition to hotels throughout the US and Canada, this free internet access for Gold and Platinum Elite members will now be available at Marriott® Hotels & Resorts, JW Marriott®, Renaissance® Hotels and Autograph Collection(sm) Hotels in all 50 United States (yes, that means Hawaii too!), the Caribbean, and Central and South America!

Additionally, when staying in the US & Canada, this benefit will also include free local calling. Unlimited domestic long distance calling will be available for a flat daily rate.

As a reminder, these benefits will begin May 7.

Again, please note: We will continue to offer free internet access to all Marriott Rewards members at all Courtyard®, Fairfield Inn & Suites®, SpringHill Suites®, Residence Inn®, and TownePlace Suites® hotels in the U.S. and Canada too.

Thank you,

Andrew

This is great news!!! My wife and I will be at the Waikiki Beach and Wailea Beach resorts for 10 days in late June. Now we can spend the dollars we would have spent on Internet access at the spa or food/drinks.

Thanks for the update and the great news. Hopefully, FS Marriott properties in the UK and Europe will be included in the benefit soon as well.

Thank you! This will bring me back to FS properties. I've had mostly SHS stays this year because my company does not allow us to charge Internet service (we have AT&T cell based Broadband service) and I like the faster speed the WiFi allows.

Does the free local calling apply at these hotels, for Gold/Plat?

Courtyard®, Fairfield Inn & Suites®, SpringHill Suites®, Residence Inn®, and TownePlace Suites® hotels in the U.S. and Canada.

I'll be very happy to pay the internet fees again if you'll bring back AA miles for Marriott points redemptions.

Yes this is a move in the right directiong BUT

I was in the UK for 12 days (thanks to the volcano) and I had three nights at a Marriott for a higher rate than SPG; well where did the other 9 nights go.. 8 to SPG (free internet and at 15 GBP a pop.. it makes for quite a savings) and the other to Radisson who happened to have free internet

I still don't get it; why not Europe?

BTW, I'm going back in June (UK) and there are no Marriotts on my Itin.. this is part of the reason
