12/31/2012 Screenshot your MR account

Just wanted to posted a reminder for those who do screenshot and give a simple idea for those who don't screenshot.

Tonight, being 12/31/2012, it's a great idea to screenshot your account so you have printed records of you carryover, nights, credits, promo's, certs. currently in your account, point balances, etc. (for MR and your various accounts).

Of course, it's not a must. But years end, always appears to cause concerns about what was and was not in there account. (when IT issues occur, it usually is fixed quickly, but just nice to have your own records to make sure).

Happy New Year All !

Yep, already did it yesterday. Was curious what will be rolled over exactly since I have enough nights to meet Platinum for next year if they rollover.

I think I have 18 nights rolled over from last year. This year I have 158 total nights (bonus nights include 1 promotional, 18 rewards credit card and 18 rollover). So how "should" this work next year? Will the 18 nights rolled over from last year still count or will it be 158-18 = 140 nights this year? Which would mean 65 nights rollover for next year?

65, exactly as you calculate.

Did everyone already get Rollover nights applied to their account? I was sitting at 40 nights at the end of 2012, my account now states 10 nights stayed this year, but states 0 Rollover Nights. I would've expected to be at 30 nights due to Rollover, but then again the Account Activity is listed at 0 Rollover nights so I dunno what those 10 nights are coming from, no recent activity listed in account and I know I have no recent activity. Just wondering what the rest of your experiences may be as we cross over to the New Year... speaking of which Happy New Years!

Update: well its back to stating 40 nights, so *shrug*

Mine is all messed up. I couldn't even guess how it arrived at the numbers listed with the exception of actual nights stayed. I jumped from 94 nights to 135 nights in about 3 minutes. Took a screen shot (thanks for the reminder) and will just have to see how it plays out!

I have searched for this but am finding different answers!

Is the membership year a rolling year or a calendar year? My other half joined Marriott Rewards about 5 months ago, she has 70 nights stayed as of yesterday and was looking forward to being Platinum in a couple of weeks. Will her account reset today?

Marriott uses the calendar year for earning status (regardless of join date), although the program year uses March 1, so that any status earned in 2012 would be valid through February 2014 unless a higher status is earned first.

Your SO's account will reset with 20 rollover nights, so the SO will be Gold but need only 55 nights to reach Plat.

The SO just joined MR this year, so I would guess no bump up, although perhaps a status challenge could have been negotiated ex ante for so many nights. If the SO has been spending a lot of money with Marriott, that would of course change the odds of getting Plat.

Just a reminder to everyone that last year it took a week or so for all the rollover nights to process, so no need to freak out just yet.

I'm personally not too concerned about the rollover, more I'm waiting for my night count to be dropped for the year. Going to apply for the Chase Marriott card soon so the +15 elite credit occurs at the start of each year, though now a little concerned that my account is still reading 40 nights right now. From your experiences, the +15 doesn't appear immediately after applying does it? Just worried that since my account still reads 40, I'll be bumped to 55, which is not what I want to happen right now.

My Hilton, Hyatt, and Priority Club accounts have all reset their qualifying night counts to 0 already, this is my first year paying attention to Marriott, is it always like this?

Marriott has never reset their numbers on January 1. I think Marriott Rewards is off for New Years since my weekend stay has not yet posted. They usually post domestic stays within 48 hours, so I expect to see this stay posted tomorrow.
