Used points to book for 2 nights in mid April and also still have the turkey hotel in mid May.

Would it be best to call early April for the 3 month upgrade to Platinum so I will receive more perks than silver?

Also, don't you continue with silver status with the Marriott rewards credit card?

Thanks. Just called and got upgraded to Platinum. Didn't know this existed till now. I can easily make 18 nights in 3 months. So will I be Platinum for this year and next year too (if I complete 18 nights)???
(Wish I was earning points to get the 50% bonus. But my preference is the Miles. Cant pass up the awesome 2000 point promotion for every stay to SOUTHWEST)

good for everyone

It is not limited to silver status...I referred my wife to program and right afterwards signed her up for the Plat challange.
If you are going to sign up from scratch, please PM me for a referral, like I said it will earn us both 2000 bonus points for the first 5 stays (on top of any other promotions)
I would hope that people are signing up for the gold/plat challange in order to complete it. I'm afraid if this were known to the greedy fools on SD they would all sign up just for the free 3 months of status and after a few thousand people do that, marriott might discontinue the challanges.

My wife is in Texas on business, and when she checked in, they asked if she would be attending the Platinum only cocktail party scheduled tonight in their fancy resteraunt....I am getting major brownie points for signing her up for this deal.

I think Plat challenge is only offered once, could someone verify that's the case?

Last year I called Marriott Customer Line for Platinum Challenge and they upgraded me to Platinum (I just made gold and was staying for 2 weeks a month). The Platinum card arrived valid till Feb 2012.

My total nights in 2011 were around 60. Does anyone what my status will be after Feb 2012? Gold till Feb 2013? Since I had like 60 nights in 2011?

Elite Challenge

If you do the challenge in the second half of this year, you will get to keep your new status for the remainder of this year and all of next year.

I became gold as a result of a challenge that started in July 2010. I completed my 12 nights by Oct and now I have my status until 2/2013

If you do the challenge during the first half of the year, you only get to keep it for the remainder of the year. You would have to requalify next year. After June, you get to keep the status for 18-19 mos, much better IMHO

I'm not sure this is accurate. I did my challenge last January for gold, easily made it by February. Got a gold card in the mail that said it was good through Feb 2013. I certainly hope its good through the rest of this year!

I requested the platinum challenge May 17, 2011. I was given until the end of August to stay 18 nights and I qualified for platinum through Feb 2013 when I completed the challenge in mid-July.

Can't agreed more. I am the basic member and just call and enroll the Plt challenge with 18 nights until mid-April. I am planning to get the 50K MegaMiles with 26 stays anyway, hence getting 18 nights will be very easy for me.

Question

I am considering a challenge but wondered if the room nights that are acrued during a meeting I have coming up will go towards that challenge number. For example if I have 50 room nights in my meeting reservation and my contract with the hotel states that I am the person earning the points and nights, will those count towards my challenge?
Thanks on the front side!
