BTDT over the years, but most of the larger players in this game are now underground. Afraid publicity these days is bad for business. Blame the banksters who have been using MS folk as whipping boys for the sins of their management.

BTW, have a look at the series "Ozark" for a somewhat realistic look at the process of how money gets laundered - it sure ain't getting cleaned by MOs bought by GCs and deposited in bank accounts. That said, the show is a bit unrealistic about stashing millions in cash in walls - we use Homer Buckets in Miami as they can be sealed and transported easily. Put a bow on them and you have nice Christmas gifts for all your government officials. Much classier than those paint cans they used to use to pay off officials in San Antonio.

Are you also holding the IHG Chase credit card? For a measly $49 annual fee (and no spend needed), each year (after the first) it gives you an uncapped free night certificate which can be used at luxury hotels in the IHG group such as Intercontinental.

And keep in mind that the SPG Amex card may not be long for this world (since SPG is expected to merge into Marriott sometime next year), so you may need alternate plans for your luxury nights.

Does the super luxury room come with a sexy lady, or do I have to BYOL (bring your own lady)?

MQM itself is not status. MQM can help you earn status, but that's something different than being status.

The status is called Medallion Status. MQM does not stand for Medallion Status, it stands for Medallion Qualifying Miles (what other carriers simply called EQM, for Elite Qualifying Miles).

MQM (Medallian Qualitying Miles) is a type of miles that are needed (but not necessarily sufficient) to earn status. They are not the same as "redeemable" miles.

However, you usually need MQD (Medallion Qualifying Dollars) as well as MQM to earn Delta status these days. So unless you're getting an MQD waiver, or unless you're buying expensive short Delta flights so you have high MQD but low MQM, earning MQM alone will not get you far.

ROFL you've inspired me. It's better than diving into a pool of coins like Scrooge McDuck

I MS for travel and status, to help make travelling cheaper/comfortable.

I must say it’s an interesting feeling knowing I can stay at hotels that often cost $700+ per night, not that I usually do (even on points).
