Wawa spending as fuel for Citi Costco

According to my friend on the east coast, if you visit a Wawa with a gas station, everything purchased at the address is a "Fuel" category. So he purchases gift cards at those locations and loads them into his Wawa app for when he shops for coffee/lunch/etc. at other locations. ^

Since Wawa has convenience-store-only locations and differentiates their sales accordingly, I figured I'd post about it.

I read from Reddit that, the spending at Wawa Food Market is posted as "grocery" charges. All my charges at Wawa gas station (inside and outside) are posted as "gas" charges. So all your coffee, lunch are gas charges.

Sounds as if these are WaWa giftcards, not general purpose MasterCard or VISA products.

If we are discussing Wawa GC's purchased at Wawa then spent at Wawa, it's not manufactured spending.

They stopped selling on CC about 2 years ago. Cash only, signage in every store.

Citi seems to be shutting down more people for MS recently so you might want to keep that in mind. Especially since you won't get the cashback from the Costco card until the beginning of next year.

It is not. Depends on the store.

I've seen VGCs/MGCs there but only small denominations, not variable load. So the fees are killer.
