Note: The 2017 posts are here: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/manufactured-spending/1819656-five-back-visa-card-2017-a.html

EDIT 2/3/17 @ 6pm: Rumors suggest Kmart is (or perhaps already has) dropped out of the program. We have two DPs of swipes at Kmart on 2/2 that received 5B on 2/3 (posts #1395 and #1400). Perhaps swipes through "end of week" will receive 5B... could mean 'til the end of Friday 2/3 or Sunday 2/5 or who knows. Please post DPs.

CVS - No longer working
Kmart - Hit & Miss for buying MOs
Staples & Staples.com - Confirmed working but limited to $200/$300 cards
Lowes - Confirmed working but limited to $200 cards

EDIT 1/29/17: Making 5B great again!

EDIT 1/28/17: The gravy train is over

EDIT 1/20/17 @ 2pm EST: At least 2 DPs of 5B posting today (1/20/17) from CVS transactions that took place on Thursday 1/19.

EDIT 1/18/17: CVS is still part of the 5B program. You should still be getting 5B for purchases there. If you aren't, then you should call in. There is no use in posting DPs until on or after the 1/20/17 published CV-Sexit.

One more DP - the $10 purchases from sunday posted as $0.50 cash back today.
Made a $3.24 purchase swiping 6 different cards (5 x FB + 1 x credit)
I don't know if I will really go back to CVS just for those last 10-15 cents.
That has got to cost CVS more to process than the amount on the cards.

I think Blackhawk has now fixed their CVS cashback problem at least for recent purchases. The ones I've done the last few days have all properly credited. At least they cared enough to resolve the problem. I wonder if they'll go back and give the credit to folks who "got cheated."

When I called, I got my $10 back in 2 days. Nice.

I had multiple transactions with five-back cards at CVS stores, all but one in credit mode. The one that was (partially) unloaded in the debit mode did not return the 5% on that portion. I haven't saved the terms insert to verify, but it appears that the 5X only works in the credit mode.

I ran 14 of these cards at CVS on 10/15 and they all got the 5% back a couple days later with no issues.

Got my 5% back too on all cards. Seems like they had a glitch on 11,12 and i had to call to get it. but later they fixed it and it posts automatically within 48 hrs now. The recent OM/OD deal was so sweet with ink +
$600 GC
$9(effective OD inst rebate) + $30 (five cash back) - about $6 (VGC fee) - 1.60 MO at PO + 2955 UR points.

Just found out by accident that these cards auto drain as debit at CVS. Not sure if that affects the 5% back card's rebate or not (i didn't have any of those left when I did the debit trans), but for the std meta cards, it worked fine. Thought I'd throw that out there, I just did this five minutes ago, auto drained two of the $200 cards via debit as part of a larger transaction to buy $500 vanillas.

5% back works only when they're used as credit

I got my rebate in 2 days after a cvs purchase. But then I made the dumb mistake of using the $10 on one card at a restaurant where the bill was $10.45 (didn't want to hassle with the additional 0.50 rebate) . This resulted in a temporary hold of $1.67 rather than draining the entire $10.

On another note, can one use the card as credit at staples.com and purchase a VGC? My cvs is tricky when purchasing pp cards or 1v cards using split tender, so online purchases avoid the issue, albeit at higher VGC costs.

Why the struggle? Most grocery stores can auto-drain them. I do it all the time when I have GCs with small amounts piling up. For example I used these Five back cards to buy several $100 of whole foods store credit. Free groceries for over a month!

I'm not seeing any grocery stores on the 5X participating list. Did I miss some?
If not, then there's no reason to buy the five-back cards and not use the 5X feature. The similar "grocery" cards cost $2 less.

From OP's description, it looks like he already got $10 by doing one round at CVS, so he was trying to get 50 cents as well by doing 5x again.

That's just too much effort for little return, but go for it. I only do one pass. Once my $10 from CVS posts I cash it out at a grocery store.
