To my pleasant surprise, I had no problem. They gave me $900 MOs until I was done. Price was $1.60 per MO. A little higher than WM but no big deal. Interested in seeing if others are equally successful. Hint: go in when they're not too busy.
Prepare to lose almost 20k ur for every month you do this or worse have your account closed.

I go to five different PO once a week and only do one x $1,000 MO, pay the $1.65 fee in cash and then $500 on one vgc and $500 on another. I have been doing this for at least four months now.

Two of the employees at two different PO give dirty looks every time I come in and the one questioned me a few times now, but It still works. I do try to go to other PO when I'm in a different part of town and never have any issues with the above method.

Why not do all 5 at one PO?

Because I'm pretty sure they all don't like doing one and having to split it into three payments. I'd rather annoy them less by doing only one, which still seems to be too many for the two employees.

What would be the consequence to annoying them?

ctbarron states that getting MO's at post office has its own set of risks. Can you elaborate?

Just out of curiosity: do you write the MO to yourself, or somebody else?

Enjoy your pending investigation from the Postmaster - who is looking to get a positive review for his role in preventing money laundering at your expense.

I keep my volume low ($3k to $4k/month) so as not to arouse suspicion.

Like a previous poster, I go to a couple different PO's and only do one x $1,000 MO at each, pay the $1.65 fee in cash and then $500 on one vgc and $500 on another. I have been doing this for at least four months now.

I have only once run into a problem, not with the general concept, but because the cashier did not know how to do split tender and basically lied and said there was a policy against it at her location. She freely told me I could go to another PO a mile down the road. All the other times, the cashiers are very quick with the whole process as described above.

TVM for sharing the MO @ USPS tip.

I've rented a USPS Box at the same branch for over 2 decades.

I have a friendly relationship with the clerks.

I don't and won't get any pushback/attitude/Postmaster issues.

Do they take your DL # down when you buy a MO at USPS? If you are using VGC and paying the fee in cash, how would they track you?
