Tips in Reading Your Walmart Receipt to Prevent Errors
1. Locate the barcode on the back of the Sunnie; this is what Wally uses to load it; somehow their system links the barcode with the account number in the background. The barcode number is what goes on your receipt.
2. Find the "loading" of the Sunnie at the BOTTOM of your receipt. (NOT the top)
3. The last four numbers of the barcode will be shown; that is how you match it to the Sunnie.
What Happens if a Clerk Attempts to Load 1 Sunnie Twice
It will tie up your CC money for 5-8 business days. It will automatically credit back at that time.
Misc. Issues
1. Reports indicate that some stores only accept cash/debit for GC. This doesn't appear to be the case in every store so YMMV.
2. In the same store (or during multiple transactions) misinformed CSRs may tell you "no credit cards." Try a different CSR, or go back.
3. If you receive a "tender not allowed" message or the first swipe didn't work, ask to try it again but don't argue the point. (For some reason, pin-enabled cards fail or take several attempts before they work.)
4. Remember: if your card didn't work and the CSR insists on seeing it or says "no CC allowed" it's best to try a different CSR, lane, or store.

Today I tried to buy $500 VGC with CC, and failed a few times. Even changed the payment type to Credit explicitly. Not sure what was wrong. Later looked at my CC and no warning or blocking.

bought 2 cards + 2 little stuffs.
Paid in 3 separate transactions (2 for the cards and 1 for little stuffs).
asked 3 security digit in the back of the card for freedom and ask for zip code for discover card. no signature needed.
question on MO: do you buy Mo with VRGC?? never done this trick yet.

I wish my money center employee's were a little more keen to turn a blind eye. I've got one that once asked what I was doing loading so much and I said "Saving for a vacation"...Which is true as I'm saving points but not dollars for vacation. She's OK with me loading $1K to each BB but gets a little anxious when I attempt to buy MO afterwards. Guess I'll just stick with BB loads and be happy enough.

So the sides are mine :-)
Customer Service (doubled as MC) is usually busy with people. They care less what's going on in register lines. If not specifically called for help.

it turned out it was my CC blocked the transaction. After I talked to them, the next try went through. Wish Wally GC could be used. That would be a deal.

Just to add another option for people. Order the $200 vanilla visa online for 206.88, but go through upromise which has 5% back until 1/1/2014.
Net profit of $3.46 for each card. Just have to make sure it isnt one of those "special" vanilla visas that cant be loaded to BB.

Last time I did this, it never posted. Upromise claimed that GC is not valid for CB.

Haven't tested it to see. Just a thought I had. It seems that most portals don't really check what you buy.

In my locations in the center there is managers' table/booth. And lesser experienced cashiers are on that lines (closer to the center), which like to reach that manager if only slightest doubt.
So the sides are mine :-)

Theres 1 in NJ that is divided in 2 reg Wally on 1 side with registers then a long pause with nothing and then the supermarket area with its own registers. Again 2 BBs and MOs w/o any problem except its further away from me, but great when I need to bring my car in to the dealer

I tried today to get a Visa GC with a WM GC but it seems like all the cashiers I talked to about it (at the MC and the CS desk) were hip to game and wouldn't even attempt to do it. I talked to the front line MOD and she pointed out that the debits can be used for cash and they were cash only.
Pretty frustrating. This is a WM in a more rural setting so I know what's in store at the more urban locations.
One cashier was kind enough to tell me that the WMGC would work but they would get in trouble if they rang it up. Thinking about it ... that's the same aura that most of them gave off when I asked if they would just try and see if it worked.
Dont know how to overcome this other than try try again.
