This is the thread for posts through 2016. The new thread for 2017 is http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/manufactured-spending/1826119-billpay-walmart-2017-a.html
Bill Pay cannot be done at a regular register.
It must be done at Customer Service/Returns.
Or at the Money Center in stores that have it.
BUSINESS DAY transaction completion time is 18:59:59 EST
--------------------------------------------------------------
WM offers two BP services: CheckFreePAY and MoneyGram. The cashier can initiate CheckFreePAY by selecting Money Services followed by Bill Pay on the register for a fee of $1-1.88. Moneygram is $4.99.
Once your CFP account is set up, you can add cc. When you want to BP give them your phone# to look up your account under Money Services. They often get confused and think you want MG, but just say it is under Money Services.
ONLY 4 successful debit card swipes can pay for a transaction.
ONLY 5 payments per 16 digit account number per rolling 30 days.
--------------------------------------------
:-:VISA and MC
If your particular card isn't on the list below, try "VISA" or "MASTERCARD."
"VISA" and "MASTERCARD" payee can no longer be found by search at some stores. If the employee can no longer find "VISA" or "MASTERCARD" by searching in CheckFreePAY, then you cannot pay either, end of story.
Following do not work:

You have to do the change payment dance, search this or the WM MO thread, myself and others have posted explanations multiple times.

Weird. Some terminals are more annoying than others, but I haven't found one yet that flat out doesn't work if the cashier follows my instructions (lol)

I only know because it used to work and now doesn't. The option to change payment type no longer appears on the customer side, and the cashier receives a message that a credit card is being used when they've selected debit. I would love for it to be possible again.

Tell the cashier to NOT press anything until after you put in your pin number.

FYI. Had been wondering about protocol for >$2500 BP. Today I did $3998 on a card that was already in the system. The only difference was that they asked for my ID (DL), entered the info, asked for my occupation (entered it) and then asked me to key in my SSN. My fingers often slip on that key pad. Cost was $1.88. This is a breakthrough for me.

Capital One
Anyone pay using Capital One? I have been paying my spark using visa for 1.88 but would it be better to use capital one for 1.50? Or even better use both to exceed 5 per 30 days?

Paying Rent
My rent website says this:
"Pay cash in-store at the service desk!
Ask for MoneyGram Express Bill Pay and use this information:
Company: PayRentChex
Receive Code:
Account Number of Bill to Pay:
MoneyGram is in WalMart, CVS, Wegmans and more. To Locate Click Here."
I'm new to this so had a few questions:
1. Can I use VGCs at any location or just WalMart?
2. Will any of the VGCs that I would buy online through the sites linked to cashback portals work for this or only certain ones?
Thanks in advance!
