Already happened at my local OD. I might be trying a non-local one later today.

Staples already runs this way. Highest cards are $200 with a $6.95 fee.

I posted this in the AMEX BB forum:

Was in OD today buying prepaid AMEX GC's I use to purchase VR's at CVS. Manager showed me a memo that instructed them to pull all variable load GC products. Something about high cost of these transactions. Memo had about 10 lines of different GC products listed on it. Asked when it was effective and they said when they get around to doing it (i.e. later today).

This was in Nashville, TN. YMMV but wanted to provide a data point.

This was my experience yesterday in NJ. Though, to make it worse, they had tons but said they could not sell them as they were having problems getting approvals to get the correct amounts loaded....staples has also taken the load your own value type cards away and oly has amounts up to 200. This sucks.

Of course not. Extra compliance costs far exceed any revenue.
