Tax Refund on MH cancellation?

Tax Refund on MH cancellation?
I need to cancel two nonrefundable tickets on MH.
I cancelled the first today and asked for a refund of the taxes. The agent said this was impossible because of the ticket being nonrefundable.
I explained that I was only after a refund of the government taxes and he said "Oh, in that case you need to write an email to the reservations team".
I wrote said email requesting a refund of the government taxes and got the same reply: "Cannot, as ticket is nonrefundable".
Has anyone had success requesting a refund of government taxes from MH before? (This has never been a problem on other airlines.)

Good luck to you on this... but you might have to argue your way through to the highest level on this. Perhaps if you get to speak to a person, at a ticketing office?
