From an email I just got from FS:

Quote:

Recently Opened:

• St. Louis, Missouri

Planned openings in 2008 and 2009:

• Macau
• Mauritius
• Seattle
• Seychelles
• Vail

In addition, some of the development projects underway with openings planned beyond 2009 include: Moscow; Barbados; Marrakech and Beijing.

I cant wait for Seattle. It is one of the more under-developed lux cities w/ no FS/MO/RC since the Fairmont mgt take over of the FS.

Too many, too fast?

Who thinks that Four Seasons are opening too many hotels, too fast?

I have not been impressed with the latest openings:-

• Alexandria, Egypt - great staff and F&B, but ugly architecture.

• Koh Samui, Thailand - complete disaster apart from staff.

• Mumbai, India - could be anywhere in the world. No personality apart from the Sen-Qi restaurant.

Yes but it is the OWNERS who are responsible for renovations, not Four Seasons. Maybe they should choose their owners better?

No, it opens next month - July - but only half the rooms.

London is renovating this fall, Chicago could sure use more than the sprucing up that they have been doing.

I have a reservation at the Four Seasons in Chicago next month. What's wrong with the renovations? Robyn

Website mentions that they are accepting reservations for arrivals from 15 June 2008.

I think the complete opposite - I do not think they are opening enough hotels.

The renovation in Chicago is nice if you like modern. It does not look like a traditional FS. However, the staff in this hotel have really gone WAY downhill. We had a laundry list of issues with our most recent stay. I would recommend the Park Hyatt, Penn or Ritz (owned by FS). Change your reservation.

Although I am always pining for new build FS/RC/MOs, the most tangible downside is watering down of the management/service ranks.

Obviously, CHI wasnt new construction...but the chains's growth has a system-wide service effect.

Brian, could you post a full review?
