When we sat down we were confused as to why, even in St Louis, a bottle of Budweiser was in a trophy cabinet with a wired front...then noticed the plague with August Busch IV's name on it. The waiter (probably the old man every seems to complain about in reviews as being stroppy or rude!) then told us about when Frank Sinatra visited with his dogs and these other peculiar stories.

Per 2009, the Four Seasons downtown St Louis is now Missouri's only AAA 5 Diamond award hotel. Can't remember the last time Missouri had a 5 diamond anything. AAA Newsroom
STL takes awhile to get used to as a city because of the separatedness of the different neighborhoods and districts, but has its own charms and lots of history. Its a city that doesn't really come to you like NYC/Chicago.. you have to do some legwork on your own. STL Downtown is small enough, that although the Four Seasons is kind of in a corner by itself, you won't walk more than 10 min to anything else in the downtown core. It's right next to the Arch, Wash Ave, Lumiere, convention center, and the Landing.
IMO though, the Chase Park definitely trumps all other hotels in the region. (Central West End, Forest Park, timeless yet swanky).
Although the RC in Clayton is plenty nice, has great service, and I believe just underwent (or is undergoing) those much-needed room renovations??

Good description of St. Louis. Just stayed in a renovated room at the RC and it's much better than the old rooms. Was hoping to try the FS but needed to stay in Clayton for some business meetings.
I would highly recommend the FS St Louis for dinner, lunch or drinks. Excellent service and a top notch chef for things simple and complex. Nice views of the arch and locals appreciate going to the restaurant.
Yep. I'm looking forward to checking it out. It looks like they have a cocktail lounge on the 7th/8th level pool deck with great views. Is the restaurant up there as well?
