Rosewood in London, Finally!

Back in 2002, when I mentioned that Rosewood would be opening a new hotel in London in 3-6 months, I meant 11 years. So I was off by just a teeny weeny bit, as were the former concierge and manager of the Seiyo Ginza (RIP, my old friend Seiyo Ginza - your birdseed pillows will be missed).

Anyway, looks like the Rosewood in London is finally on its way.

After a final awful last stay/last straw at the Lanesborough in July 2004 under Starwood (I won't go into details unless begged), I permanently switched to the Stafford, and I never looked back. After a bit of a hiatus from London, I look forward to seeing how the new Rosewood turns out. From what I can tell, it'll be on the same site as the Chancery Court hotel, not sure it will take over the premises or simply occupy a part of the same address.

the hotel accepted arrivals through end of july, so not accepting arrivals for 2.5 months before rosewood launch. some additional/final updates, or just things like training?

While the hotel had been open, parts of it were closed as they were renovating it. Some of the newly renovated rooms that they had renovated first were able to be booked up through July...

again, not a new hotel/owner/GM (just flag/brand change after owner bought rosewood corporate) and renovations began in 2011. see tripadvisor reviews discussing renovation going back to 2011 for example. IIRC saw one other place too.

The hotel will be nothing like the old one. Its a whole new concept. News rooms, new suites, a new wing to the hotel and lots of new F&B all directed towards a new market.

I can't believe it is closing as from today! (31st July 2013) We stayed there on Saturday night as we were going to see Derren Brown at the Palace theatre. The hotel was being renovated so I thought nothing of the strange entrance that consisted of a slim corridor and then straight to the lifts
misleading PR and media not correcting i can understand. but considering context, this seems strange >
On account of our valued relationship, I am writing to personally inform you that the Chancery Court Hotel will cease operations on Wednesday 31st July 2013. I understand that this may be unexpected news and wish to take this opportunity to offer our sincere thanks for your loyalty and for entrusting us as your preferred London hotel, especially as there are a number of choices available to you. With regard to the hotel closing, please do let me know should you require my assistance with an introduction to another hotel in the area, I would be delighted to help you. Finally, I want to inform you that I will be in touch over the coming months with further news on the exciting plans for this heritage building. If you have any questions in the meantime, please do let me know.

Respectfully yours
Assistant Front of House Manager
well done >
noise of construction is only between 10 AM and 5 PM weekdays only! So no need to be worry about noise early in the morning!
i hope they do not remove the 1,254 TA reviews

just noticed this, 44 suites (sounds like no rooms) are 'club level' >

FYI, the regular deluxe rooms do not have separate shower and bath, so the only real option is the Executive room and above if you want a room comparable with the FS...

Go for the Club as well...
