Soneva Jani (Maldives) Opening Rates

Soneva Jani is doing their soft opening on October 01.

The lead in 1br costs $3900 per night, WITH TAX.

They are offering 50% off till December 01, making the total with tax a tad below $2000.

I really cant believe the rates.

Hopefully they drop, but I did book 3 nights here just to see the retractable roof.

high season, only 25 villas at launch, massive villas/pools
may have live-in butlers considering theyre (all) residences ?
hmm, or are they not all being sold as residences eventually ?

villa owners will benefit from the services of Mr. or Ms. Friday private butlers

Good call, I had no idea the villa was this big 411m2. The price is then competitive to CBR I would say.
Hopefully the Cruosoes, which are quite a bit smaller, are more cost effective.

And yes, these villas are all "owned" by someone - actually just a 48 year lease.

Heres what the GM says about diving.

Our Soneva Fushi dive school, Soleni, will be operating the Soneva Jani dive school and they are already researching new dive sites in the Noonu Atoll, and in the close vicinity of Medhufaru island, including the northern islands and channels of Lhaviyani Atoll. For snorkeling sites, our reef surrounds our 5.6km lagoon, so we have extensive reef surrounding us, but now immediately accessible from the water villas. They are from our beach club on the north island of the lagoon, and by boat all around the edges.

i saw a very bad environmental report (EIS?) on house reef at soneva jani ...

not sure if they are just selling over time, or if they are not selling all of the villas
leasehold ownership is not unusual, and some condo owners even pay ground lease

all maldives resorts are lease/leasehold and must have 'local' company minority partner
handful of maldives resorts are selling residences, started a while ago with soneva fushi

Richli is one of handful of GMs here with mixed (polar) reviews, very positive / very negative

Interesting that Soneva still insists on doing these completely open air bathrooms. I guess some people love that.

hmm - http://www.soneva.com/soneva-jani/villas
villas are that large, but do not have second bathroom ?
and these are being sold (unclear if any crusoe being sold)

seem to recall soneva kiri bathrooms varying by category
dont recall re fushi, dont think its all outdoor bathroom there

i would agree there should be two - fully enclosed plus outdoor
and jani does mention AC, but is that only in the bedroom(s) ?
