Laid Back Luxury

I wonder what places would qualify? These are the types of places that I enjoy, where I can have a good dinner in flip-flops and people talk to each other, even asking what you do (which is just a friendly code word for how much $$ do you make, but whatever, I'm too laid back to care ...)

Coppola Resorts in Belize.
Soneva Fushi.
Inkaterra Peru

Mukul Resort

Nayara Springs

GoldenEye

Come to think of it, "laid back luxury" is endemic to the Latin/South America, if you ask me..

many of the amanresorts outside US/EU, historically?

probably a lot of beach resorts and some countryside
some in 'remote luxury' thread, possibly including some 'ranches' in US

re mukul - all restaurants are totally casual?
latin/south america has 'fashionable' places too

at some places it depends on preferences of guests present

some six senses may start targeting others more, with renderings of french alps property and perhaps bhutan property (giant infinity pool in bhutan)

Virtually everywhere I stay would qualify. I do not respond to invasive questions from other guests (e.g. What do you do? etc...)

Not necessarily, although I do gravitate toward such places.

In general I prefer a "smart casual" dress code in hotel restaurants, at most a jacket at dinner time. I never like to be underdressed though.

soneva (and originally six senses) had the quote about "no shoes"
opposite direction of brands such as cheval blanc and one & only
probably few if any properties for companies like FS, RC, MO
most in EU are probably around Mediterranean?
probably not most luxury targeting UK/AU for example?

I cant bear no trainers or jeans rules - seriously! £200 designer jeans not allowed, Gucci trainers not allowed, Top Man trousers & shoes allowed!

Restaurant Le Louis XV by Alain Ducasse in Monaco goes more casual in the summer, no tie required, jacket is ... (no mention of designer jeans or trainers- I shall have to query this with the Prince )

AND

I'm actually looking for the exact opposite response. When I mean laid-back, I guess I mean really laid-back, where there's no dress code and people generally wouldn't care about being friendly/open with other guests.

Always my question: Which tie and which jacket. Sometimes no jacket/ tie is better than THAT jacket/ tie
