Significance of a 100th night stay at your hotel.

Hi there,

I am embarking on a research for a paper relating to the hospitality industry, particularly to the "wow" factor, a holy grail of every luxury hotel.

A guest's 100th visit
Without reference to rewards points, is there any hotel in this world placing any significance on this? Or should it be treated similarly to one's first visit. Incurring additional cost for implementing any extraordinary service is alarming to hotel managers. So what is your best practice in your environment?

We don't ordinarily allow surveys without pre-approval but since the OP is asking for responses to be posted in the thread and it seems an interesting question (if there are any people who have stayed 100 times in a luxury hotel!), I'm going to allow it for now and see how it goes.

To me, it sounds like the question is meant for hotel managers, not people like us who stay at the hotels.

I agree with RichardInSF, however, that it would be interesting to hear what type of recognition people get when staying a lot at the same luxury hotels.

definitely some business travelers including in this forum
probably including, as one example, MO BKK (~50 years)

maybe some repeat leisure travelers as well
maybe at some aman properties (~25 years)

Hi guys,

I'm sorry for the ignorance and not seeking approval prior to posting the thread.
However, the topic concerned actually reflects much on business travelers and very much towards casino hotels.

I can only guess because I didn`t stay at one Hotel or even chain 100 times. I made like most people the experience, that I got better Upgrades. Although it`s of course always nice if the staff recognize you. So I guess with 100 stays you will get very good treatment.

Since you asked specifically in regards to hotel casinos: the 100th comped night was no different than the first comped night...except it was easier to get upgrades, or ask for it (much more to do with gambling history though...rather than how many stays it was)

No idea on regular hotels.

100th night (OP's title) or 100th stay (OP's post - the term "visit")? Big difference here I'd imagine. Even I have done 100+ nights at the Cosmo in Las Vegas, and it has only been open since Dec 2010...

A couple datapoints from my end:

Grand Hyatt Tokyo

Provided a hand written note from the GM recognizing my 25th stay (100+ nights). A gift certificate for approximately $100 USD for use within hotel restaurants and bars, as well as chocolates and a bottle of wine were provided.

For my 50th stay, identical to above except approximately $200 in certificates.

Hyatt corporate also recognized my... 25th I believe, unique Hyatt property visited for one free night at a Cat 4 or less hotel IIRC.

Although I have not stayed as much, I have recieved very thoughtful gifts from GH Tokyo's F&B management team. I miss Frederic and others who have left the hotel recently, it is not the same without them. Fortunately some of them are now at the new Andaz property, which is not far away.

I have also been given gifts by the Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok - I have not stayed an extraordinary number of times, but perhaps spa cottage stays and high incidental spend are factors. I think the main thing is that I am very friendly with staff, from the club manager to the i.sawan staff and massage therapists.

As a regular at any good hotel, I find the magic really happens when I have a good rapport with front line employees - perhaps even more so than management. They are the ones in the position to make even small aspects of an hotel stay perfect, which makes all the difference.

Between 2005 and 2008 I stayed at the Adlon in Berlin, a lot. Since then it has been more 'normal'. I think I have every possible gift/amenity from that hotel. I used to get vouchers for massages, bottles of wine, dinner, a bathrobe, etc. for my 50th stay I remember being upgraded to the 'Michael Jackson' suite (where he dangled his baby from. I think at 75, and again at 100, the hotel invited the whole family (I have four children) for a free weekend at the hotel, including tours, babysitting, and dinner in the Lorenz Adlon restaurant. We also had several bottles of champagne waiting for us. Nice touch!

Thank you all very much for sharing your experiences. I really appreciate you guys giving this thread a shot. It's nice to know that there are indeed hoteliers recognizing your numerous stays. Though not every hotel/casino brands emphasize on this detail.

I hope there'll be more people sharing their experiences before the thread closes.
