Trip Report-Bali: Four Seasons Jimbaran Bay and Four Seasons Sayan

Hello everyone!

Just posted my trip report for a wonderful vacation to Bali. We stayed at the Four Seasons Jimbaran Bay and Sayan back in June for 7 nights. We really thought the people of Bali were the nicest people we have ever come across!!

Jimbaran bay location and setting is splendid. It is not the best beach in the world however it is very good. The property feels very Balinese and authentic compared to the Sayan property. The Sundara restaurant and pool service was super! The full renovation really pays off and is a great setting for evening dinner or cocktails. The location is not far from some of the important/popular temples. The accommodations were very nice! I took a ton of photos and a walkthru video of our villa and you can see the resort map. We like the location of our villa-very private! Please see pics below if your interested or are considering staying there!

The Sayan property is set in a lush, tropical jungle setting. Walking into the property amazing and it really knows how to make an entrance. When you arrive you are greeted and given a small flower and escorted across a long suspended bridge over to the main building entrance.

We stayed in a one bedroom villa which was very nice! I had no complaints with the accommodation aside from the fact it doesn't feel very Balinese as it has more of a modern feel. Food was good but not memorable. If you are considering staying here or are just curious of the property I have a lot of pictures of the property and a video of the villa for more details!!

Feel free to ask any questions! I know there are lots of other Bali experts in this forum and Im sure they can chime in too!

Thanks!

Did you get the wraps for your legs at the hotel or at the destination? I"m sure they were for modesty right? Looks like a great trip!!

Thanks for the report and the pictures. Great to see that there is now a pool at the beach at the FS Jimbaran. I really missed this when we stayed there.

Great trip report - thanks for posting. The new pool at the Jimbaran property does look very nice - they were building it last time we were there (staying at the IC just along the beach).

Coincidentally we have a carving of hands from Ketut Sedana very similar if not the same as the one on the table at the forefront of one of your photos. I love the way the bangles move on the wrist.

The hotel driver made sure he brought some along for us however it appeared some of the temples had a big box of the wraps in case you came unprepared. You are supposed to wear the wraps if you are a visitor and not practicing the religion. I noticed some locals and one of our drivers didnt need to wear the wraps to enter the temple. There is no need to wear them at the resort however.

We were at the Four Seasons JB right after the pool at the beach and Sundara opened. Absolutely sensational....as was the entire property. Your photos brought back wonderful memories. Thanks!

Thanks Musken, I always enjoy your commentary. Yes, the Sundara pool is a key feature of the property. They did a really nice job with it!!

Is the 4S Jimbaran fully renovated? I am looking for the best hotel at the best beach in Bali - 4S Jimbaran or any other thoughts? Thanks

Yes, pointspinnacle.....beam me up Scotty! And if you can't I'll just go over to flyertalk for a revisit of outstanding experiences!

ibizenco247, we went to the FS at JB last May. Our ocean view premium pool villa was wonderful (thank you, David O!) and incredibly comfortable, but I can't say it was very recently renovated. I am very particular regarding hotels in need of updating...and I had absolutely no issues with our suite or the hotel! Great experience!

Thank you for the bump. We are at Sayan in May '15. I'll update thoughts when we return.

I like FS Sayan, but loathe FS Jimbaran. I may be in the minority here, but it was very bland and generic when I stayed, nothing special at all. Many problems - the only property to date, where FS let me down and no service recovery in place at all. Checked out 4 days early and no one seemed to be bothered.

I love FS Sayan but didn't care much at all for FS Jimbaran. I think the villas at Jimbaran are too close together, right on top of one another. And the higher rates are not at all justified. Suites at Sayan are excellent and a much more reasonable price point. Villas at Sayan are nicer and more private and secluded and less expensive than at Jimbaran. Plus I like the river setting more than Jimbaran beach, and Ubud is my preferred base. So for all these reasons, a ringing endorsement of Sayan over Jimbaran. Been to Sayan six or eight times and going back in a month. Been to Jimbaran only once. Voting with my feet.
