Funnily enough, Andronis Luxury Suites, which is in a restored mansion at the beginning of Oia, was opened by an ex staff member of a sister hotel to Zannos Melathron (very small world on Santorini). It is OK, but not great. Beds are hard, views are nice, service wavers.

Katikies remains the best option on Santorini. And I would not go near Fira unless you are into clubbing.
Thank you so much for this post!

Why do you suggest to avoid Fira unless into clubbing?

I much prefer the decor and design at Aigialos to what I see at Katikies. It just feels more natural to the surrounding environment than the ultra sleek and modern looking rooms at Katikies. I'm not impressed by the clinical, all white rooms with flat screen TVs hanging on the walls. It looks a bit too much like something from a hip hop video, haha. I prefer the more natural look of the Aigialos. The honeymoon suite looks very nice and I like how the decor is a bit more reflective of the surrounding environment and the way it uses colors and textures in the design; the clay and stone walls, etc. The Katikies looks to me like it's trying a bit too hard and even the guest photos on TripAdvisor give me the same impression. I could be wrong, of course. I just don't like the minimalist and ultra modern design of the rooms and interior decor which contrasts with everything around it - the rocky cliffs, colorful faded rooftops, and azure blue sea of the island. Perhaps I'm getting the wrong impressions of the Aigialos from the photos on Tripadvisor and their website though.

Could you please explain what you mean by the clubbing remark though, as that definitely does NOT sound appealing to me!

Fira is a very busy little town, packed full of cheap tourist shops, downscale cafés and crowds. The bay beyond Fira is where the cruise ships moor, so the town is regularly bombarded by thousands of souvenir-buying cruise-ship passengers. It is a very 'young' town in that this is where the touristic youth gathers for partying. It is far from being peaceful, despite what the Aigialos website suggests.

Oia on the other hand is rather more upscale - OK, still with many tourists, but smaller and less tacky than commercialised Fira.

I don't understand what you mean about Katikies. It is in no way modern, but is entirely of the place - the architecture and design very much of Santorini - the rooms and suites mainly cut into the rock and cave-like. OK, they have wall-mounted TVs now, but apart from that, you will find the rooms and suites to be really authentic, with many local antiques dotted about. I am a big fan of the Katikies Suite, which has beautiful views of the Caldera. Also, food and service here are far superior to just about anywhere else on the island.

Andronis Luxury Suites Part of Andronis Exclusive Group

Dear vuittonsofstyle, thank you for your comment.

Andronis Luxury suites operated on 2007 after some years of reconstructuring at the ex "Fregata Hotel". It is a sister hotel of Andronis Boutique and Alta Mare by Andronis, members of Andronis Exclusive Group. Andronis Miltiadis is an entrepreneure with an extensive experience in business in general and has nothing to do with Zannos Melathron or any other hotel. Indeed, Santorini is a very small world, inaccurate news and misinformation travel fast. Thank you once again for your comment.

Surely Ionannis Kyritsis opened Andronis Luxury Suites as MD in 2007. He was an ex employer of Panos Paleologos (now Hotel Brain) who operated Zannos Melathron and, Ionassis's ex hotel, La Maltese Estate in Imerovigli. Not entirely inaccurate, I think.

Bumping this up looking for some help. Aiming to spend max $500-600/night for a trip to Santorini next May.

Adronis Boutique, Alta Marie by Adronis, and Above Blue Suites have all been recommended to me.

Looking for any experience at those properties. We want somewhere that will be relaxing and we can basically just stay at all day until we go out for dinner (so jacuzzi or pool on the balcony, good view from balcony, and breakfast is a plus).

If there's a better thread please merge. This is what came up when I searched for Adronis.

No matter which hotel you choose on Santorini, you will find that there is very little outdoor space in which to relax. This is because the hotels are all crammed into a very small area, so they can offer the coveted view of the Caldera.

Having your own plunge pool helps. You will find that the hotels on offer are very similar in style, so the things to look for are good service and food, even if you intend to go out for dinner. That is why I still like Katikies and its sister hotel, Kirini - http://www.katikies.com/

Adronis is accetable, just not quite as polished.

That being said, we FAR more enjoyed our time in the Peloponnese, at Amanzoe.

I stumbled onto a website very helpful for Santorini ... SantoriniDave. Should be helpful in narrowing down the options.

Hope to head to Greece shortly, what are the best options in Mykonos? If I do Santorini+Mykonos and still have 2-3 days to spare, should I do Corfu?

Have res at Amanzoe for a separate trip in October
