Being that this is the lounge, and I'm sort of new to the luxury hotel forum, I'd like to introduce myself, as I've been posting more than regularly as of late.

My name is Ben Price, and I'm both a lawyer and a Virtuoso travel advisor based in Jacksonville, FL.

For my age (28), I believe I've been to a decent number of places. By my last count, thats 33+ countries, a few dozen territories, thousands of cities, etc.

Favorite destinations: Peru, Spain, and Japan.

Most memorable trips: Poland (multigenerational road trip retracing our family roots), Sicily (finding an apartment for my mother-in-law, whose moving back to Sicily after 30 years in NYC), and Beijing (first time traveling w/ my cousin & grandfather).

Interests are Russian politics, literature, and Southern US history (deplorable, embarrassing, et al, but fascinating).

Before I came to the lux forum, I posted pretty heavily on the credit card forums, SPG, and other hotel-specific threads.

Well, I guess that's enough, no?

Nice meeting you all.

some FS packages > http://robbreport.com/luxury-travel/...sport-packages
Olympic gold medalist Todd Rogers will take your beach-volleyball game from casual to competitive...Biltmore Santa Barbara will replenish with a beach picnic...$1,500 for two people

Maldives at Kuda Huraa’s...new surfing safari [operated by Tropicsurf] whisks guests away on a seaplane in search of the area’s most exclusive surf breaks...From $9,500 for up to eight people

Whistler...golf pro and the guests will then board a private helicopter and fly 8,000 feet up to the 19th Hole, located on the glacier. Servers will provide appetizers and cocktails, and when it is tee time, guests will receive professional advice on their form...through October 15. ($5,635 for four people
i wonder how feasible to do diving excursion using seaplane, flying really low
edit - sounded cool, but looks like its ~$3K an hour, so not really a package
would be nice if hotels offered things on demand if multiple guests interested

rosewood beijing and london were owned by new owner of rosewood corporate before they acquired rosewood corporate - so they reflagged those properties after acquiring rosewood corporate

I'd wondered why we'd not seen you around these parts. Hope you and yours are well, and that you have some exciting travel plans for the not-too-distant future.

business traveler article says "a new partnership and affiliation announcement will follow next week" - note it does not say management. its referring to marketing by Preferred Hotels, and other sales/PR/etc firms.

Thanks aa. Indeed, things are well. Had some business matters to focus on...now completed successfully.

Enjoying (somewhat) our free annual night at the Plaza tonight from the Fairmont typo platinum deal a few years back. Not my favorite hotel....but at this price point, it is tough to argue.

Booked plans include FS-Costa Rica and CdB in Italy.

What's in your travel agenda?

I stayed last summer and have another stay coming up. Anything in particular you want to know? Id surmise that not much has changed from when anyone had last been other than i thought the food was not what it should have been when i was there (worse than say a blackberry or twin farm) but apparently they have a new chef. Happy to share thoughts post return visit.

keeping them running as usual until the value increases to the point where they can sell it when the economy turns around

they have said they intend to hold on to it until there is or sell the property as a private home.

they have said is they may just simply sell it as a private home.
