Four Seasons Jimbaran - 2 BR villa or Private Estate ?

I am planning to go with family to FS Jimbaran next summer, but are having trouble deciding whether to book 2 bedroom villa or a 2 bedroom private estate. The private estate looks nice on photos, but I have not found one single review from anyone actually staying there.

Would appreciate feedback from anyone having tried the 2 BR villas and/or 2 BR Private Estate at FS Jimbaran ? Including recommendations for specifice villa numbers to request.

I have stayed twice in one of the 2-bedroom Royal Villas at Jimbaran, and once in a 3-bedroom Residence. The Residences are superb and I would highly recommend them. You also have access to a private beach for Residence guests, which is just across the little road that separates the residences from the main resort. Overall, a terrific experience in the Residences!

Can't remember Residence numbers as I am currently travelling. Best to ask the General Manager, John O'Sullivan. All I would say is to make sure you get a Residence on the front row and not on the second tier. Front row Residences have little access gates so you can go directly to the beach.

Villa number 100 is a two bed villa (referred to as 'Royal' villa).
It is front row in the main resort.
We have stayed in this villa. It has two seperate bedroom suites with a huge connecting living/dining room. Theres a pantry area with an attached single bedroom (for a nanny or security perhaps).
The main deck has a large pool, Jacuzzi and cold plunge pool (with a sauna nearby).
The living/dining area is particularly nice with beautiful seaviews.
It is one of my favourite hotel 'rooms'.
We havent stayed at the residences yet.

Thank you for answers. vuittonsofstyle : It sounds like you actually found the private residences better than the Royal Villas ? Is this a correct understanding.

The residences do look magnificent on the photos. Which is why I am surprised that they actually are much cheaper to than 2 bedroom villas.

I remember earlier the prices of 2 bedroom residence and 2 bedroom villa were about the same. Now the 2 bedroom residence is nearly half price of 2 bedroom villa. Even the largest 4 bedroom residence is half price of the Royal Villa in the period we are going (late june/early july).

So I became worried that there "was a catch", and that the residences had some drawback with regard to location, view, distance to beach etc.

(though I do see that part of the explanation is that residences are much heavier discounted - 50 % - than regular villas outside high season.).

Thank you for all your help :-)

i just back from the hotel, i guess the major difference is location.
villa is located at beach side with walking access to the beach
residence located at the other side of the road with no beach and sea.

Thank you for comment. I was at Jimbaran 15 years ago and if I remember correctly the beach ends where PJs is (there were no PJs then, nor any Private Estates), with just cliffs and rocks below the front row Villas (and wonderful sea view of course).

So I had them send me a resort map, and from this map it looks like most of the villas, - including all 2 BR villas except the Royal Villa - are quite a bit further away from the beach than the estates ( but one walks through the resort and do not have to cross the entrance road to resort like one has to do from estates).

Is this not correct ?

At similar price, what would you have booked mangopek ?

i m the kind of person would not like to have an "outside feeling" so i stayed in pool villa one bed room which "within" the resort.

Yes, the only lay down area is under the PJ'S at day time, and during night time, its become a beach BBQ area. that's the only arear with day beds, chairs and service. eigher far end (rock end) and water sport end (public area with famours night bazza now) are non serviced beach.

1 more suggestion, if looking for real beach experinces, try new ST REGIS 2 bed room residence villa. it even have a butler room within.

Yes, indeed, the new St Regis supposedly has outstanding villas, brand new. Hope to visit them.

Alternatively, if you want a better location with access to more restaurants and more things to see and do, look at the two bedroom villas at the Samaya, in Seminyak. Very well done and likely less cost than the FSeasons. They are now being updated and, by the summer, should be brand new. Great small spa at the Samaya, terrific service and smack on Seminyak beach where you can watch the world go by. We found Seminyak much preferable to Jimbaran. Have fun, Bali is terrific.
