There's a lot of helpful info here, but could someone please answer my specific question so that I don't have to search through 200+ pages:
I am traveling ARN - FRA (SAS); FRA - SFO (UA)
So I know I am arriving/leaving from terminal 1. Since my first segment is Schengen to Schengen, I am guessing there is no passport control upon arrival. Am I correct?
My concern is my US connection. Would I have to go to another zone? Is it all air-side? Re-clear security? Go through departure passport control?
Would 1-1/2 hours generally be enough?
Thanks in advance!

Z gates are immediately above A gates. You can stay airside and don't have to go through security but you do go through passport control. One and a half hours should be enough for this connection.

You don't go through passport control "on arrival" but you do go through exit passport control during the transfer. SAS flights from ARN will arrive at an A gate or an A bus gate. UA flights to SFO depart from a Z gate.

Singapore is not a 'clean' country. The only One Stop Security countries outside the EU as far as I know are the US and Canada. Most arrivals from the US use Z gates but flights from Canada usually arrive in B (as do most arrivals from the UK and Ireland) and are subject to transfer security.
Arrivals in Z at non-clean arrival gates are designated as e.g. Z62A.

Actually I was looking at this website for a list of One Stop Security countries which for some reason doesn't mention Norway, Iceland or Switzerland.

If you don't mind going through passport control twice you can also visit the Welcome Lounge which is landside. It has more showers than any other lounge and food is supposed to be on a par with Senator Lounges. If you are not *G and only have access to Business Lounges you might like to consider a visit to the Welcome Lounge.

On arrival in Z take the Skyline train to C and go through security. It used to be a long walk from the stop for B/C to C gates but a new Skyline platform for C opened recently. Unfortunately there is no way you can avoid clearing security. Lounges in Z are newer and probably nicer than those in C (which I have not visited for a long time). Since you have plenty of time you might like to visit a lounge in Z first, before moving to C.

Passengers arriving from the US should be "clean" for security purposes but unfortunately the layout of the airport means any passengers arriving in non-Schengen B or C cannot enter the terminal behind security.
Most flights from the US arrive in Z and their arrival gates appear on LH's flight status page as Z20, Z62, etc. Arrivals from most other non-Schengen countries appear as Z62A, Z69A, B28A, etc.

Gate C15A is the same gate as C15. Because arriving passengers and departing passengers (who have been through security) must be separated, arrival gates have A added to the gate number. After deplaning passengers usually take an escalator to the arrival level.

Hello. Great thread but having tried to read through it I find myself a little confused so please forgive this simple Englishman if I ask something obvious
I am flying LHR-FRA-IAD next month in F. This is my first Lufthansa flight and first time connecting at FRA. The scheduled connection time is just 70 minutes. I am an EU passport holder.
If I have read correctly I will arrive at Term B and depart from Term A. Should I make my own way from Term B to Term A? Or should I go to the First Class lounge in Term B and get advice there/a possible car transfer?
Many thanks.

If you arrive on an apron position you will get a car pick up, either to B non-Schengen or to AEU. BNS is easier for FCL B, if you are dropped off at AEU it might even be shorter to go to the FCT even if you have to go through passport control twice, once to go landside and once in the FCT which is no hassle...

UK[BRS] to US[SJC] [ B Gate-Bus to Z Gate]
Hello,
Amazing Thread with lots of good information.
Here is my situation:
I have a 1H20M Connection on the same ticket [LH]
BRS->FRA->SJC
I have been observing that BRS->FRA always gets a Bus Gate[B-terminal] and flight to US [SJC] departs from Z gates
Will 1H20M enough time to connect ?
What is the best way to connect between B-Bus Gates to Z Gates.
Thanks for input.

Flights from BRS are operated by BM Regional and always arrive at B bus gates. From B bus gates to Z, take the Skyline train to Z and go through transfer security there. You should have enough time for the connection unless your flight from BRS is very late.
