LH1451 (DME-FRA) to LH7603 (FRA-EWR), appears I will arrive at gates B, and depart at gates Z. Both in terminal 1.
I've seen above that a tunnel is not an option? And that a train might be involved in transfer? I dont see how a train could be involved using this map: https://www.frankfurt-airport.com/en...inal-maps.html
thanks!

Sorry, LufthansaFlyer, perhaps you are accustomed to limo transfer between B and A/Z. Most of us don't have that option unfortunately.

Since both DME and EWR are in non-Schengen countries, the only way to transfer between non-Schengen B and Z gates without going through passport control twice is via the Skyline train (other than a direct limo transfer ). You will have to clear transfer security when you arrive in Z. Other routes (via the tunnel or walk through the terminal) involve entering and leaving Schengen/Germany and mean going through passport control twice as well as clearing security. The Skyline train has separate sections for Schengen and non-Schengen passengers.

Is 70 minutes enough to transfer to Schengen flight?
Hi,
I booked Star Alliance tickets for my family of 4 from SIN to FCO with a transit in FRA. Our flight from SIN is SQ326 arriving at 20:40, and the connecting flight is LH242 at 21:50. So that's only 70 minutes transit time. I wasn't paying attention to it when I made the booking, but now as I am reviewing our itinerary, I am nervous that we may not make the flight as we will need to clear border control.
I understand that both flights are in Terminal 1, but is that enough time for the 4 of us to make it to our connecting flight? How long prior to the flight does LH normally close the gate? It's the last flight of the day, so we'll be stranded if we don't make it.
Shall I try to change our itinerary at this point (flight is in 10 days)?
Thank you!
Uly

It's hard to tell which is quicker but the latter option might involve less walking.

Thank you for the advice and for the reassurance. So it looks like I can check out the line at the passport control in B before deciding whether to go for way (1) or (2). I'll study FRA map as well to make sure I have good bearing on where we will be walking to. In any case, I just checked and there aren't any 4 seats on the morning direct flight that we can switch our award tickets to, so we just have to stick with this flight.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
If your SQ flight is not late you should be fine. There aren't many arrivals in B at that time of the evening and I don't expect a long wait at passport control. There are two ways of getting to A where your flight to FCO departs. Either go through passport control in B, go down the short escalator, follow the corridor bearing left and turn sharp left before entering the public area of the terminal. Go through security, walk back passed B Schengen gates, down the elevator, walk through the tunnel and up the elevator to A departures. Alternatively walk to the Skyline platform (corridor to the right of B passport control), take the Skyline train to A/Z (one stop), go through transfer security, go down two levels to passport control and A departures.
It's hard to tell which is quicker but the latter option might involve less walking.

The map on Frankfurt Airport's website may be found here.
https://www.frankfurt-airport.com/en...ory=all/page=1
All arrivals at non-Schengen B gates are directed up to level 3. After going through automatic one-way doors you come to the central arrival/transfer area with three options: 1) passport control, 2) passage leading to the Skyline train and C gates beyond, 3) transfer security for B departure gates.
This is the central arrival/transfer area of FRA Pier B. What is missing from the map on the airport's website is the location of passport control (marked with a red line). The passage leading to the Skyline train platform is to the right of passport control.

Hi NewbieRunner,
Thank you so much for the information. The map is particularly useful. Do you know how long of a walk it is from gates B to A (without taking the train)?
Regards,
Uly

The best maps of FRA I have found are on FRA Airport app and Frankfurt Airport's website. Maps on FRA Airport app used to be very good but it looks like you can only access the map if you choose 'Navigation' which I find not entirely reliable. Don't trust what 'Navigation' tells you.

If you are walking to the Skyline train platform from the transfer area of B, you will follow the passage marked in green on this map. The platform is shown by the white rectangle at the top.
If you deicde to go through passport control and security in B, you will follow the passage marked in green after passport control and the escalator and turn back after going through security (marked in red) passed gates B10-13. The route is marked in blue. The elevator to take you down to the tunnel is between gate B13 and passport control (only used for Schengen > non-Schengen into B departures).
The tunnel between B and A is marked by the green line on this map. There are moving walkways in the tunnel which are working most of the time but not always. The elevator will bring you up to A concourse next to gate A15 (shown as Z15 on the this map which is the same gate as A15 approached on the non-Schengen level). Depending on the actual departure gate you may have some more distance to walk once you are in A concourse whether you get there via the Skyline train or via the tunnel.

Have appreciated the guidance here.
Just another data point flying HEL (Schengen)-FRA (terminal A, LH, arrived by bus)-YYZ (terminal B, AC) (International)--baggage checked through to destination:
Scheduled arrival 8:10 HEL-FRA
Scheduled departure 9:20 FRA-YYZ
Scheduled 1:10 connect time
Actual arrival 7:58 HEL-FRA
Arrived early at 7:58 AM and had to use bus which may be quicker than walking from a remote A gate since the bus drops you off close to the middle of the terminal--arrived at terminal A around 8:10/8:15 and walked to tunnel to Terminal B (very close to drop off point)--used stairs rather than elevator to get to tunnel since there was quite a line up at the elevator.
Walked moderately briskly but not running through tunnel using moving sidewalk
Used stairs rather than elevator to get back up to departure level in Terminal B
8:25--very brief passport check at checkpoint, with minimal lineup (3 ahead)
No security check
8:35--arrive at gate B42 and my plane had just started priority boarding
Fairly efficient transfer but no time to waste with a 1:10 scheduled connect. One can count on 35-40 minutes from plane arrival to getting to your gate if all goes well.
Actual departure 9:25 FRA-YYZ
(although doors were closed before 9:20 original departure time)

Hi NewbieRunner,
Thank you so much for your detailed map and step-by-step instructions. You are so kind to provide that.
So it looks like the determining factor is where the gate is going to be. If it's A1-A5 or A50 and above, we should probably take the skytrain and clear passport control in the A gates. But if it's A11-A42, we should clear at B gates and take the tunnel.
Looking at the map, gates A1-A5 are physically close to the B gates security point. But I take it that (since it's not mentioned in the notes) that the two areas are not connected?
Either case, I feel much better now that I have a good bearing on where we need to go. Thanks so much!

Thank you for the DP. We just got to pray that our flight does not arrive late. And that we can get our 7yo to walk fast at what is going to be 3am Singapore time.

Flying in mid august on LH in J from BRU-FRA and then FRA-EWR. Connection time is at 1hr 15min... is this going to be too short?
