Travelling in F - 6 hour layover in MUC

Is the city close to the airport, ie close enough to visit in this time? Otherwise, I'd like to hear suggestions for how to spend this much time (other than in the F Lounge Area).

I heard once you get some kind of a hotel voucher if you are travelling in F and have a long layover...

The city is 45 minutes by train (one-way) so it doesn't make sense at all....

Take a taxi to Erding (15 minutes) , nice little town, good food.... ^ (boring on sundays)

i suggest a make-your-own wine tasting event in the F area plus some shopping in the airport. you will need close one hour into munich and the same back, and if you include some extra time for safetey then there wont be much left.

And if flying in summer, Airbräu could be an option as well.

If arriving in F, they will give you, on request, a dayroom at the Kempinski. Worth taking this, as it is a VERY nice hotel actually in the airport, with a good health club/swimming pool etc.

You may take a taxi to Freising. It is 10 minutes away and is quite nice and small and original bavarian. You get Information under www.freising.de.

if you want to do that you got to call the kempinski in advance, its all really easy though. they just make a copy of your F boarding pass at the hotel. the hotel itself is actually pretty nice, spent a couple of hours there recently...

i wouldn't say "no sense at all".
sounds like the OP has never been to Munich, so take 1.5hrs time on the train, 1.5hrs back at Airport before next flight (to play it VERY safe and have time to shop/ F lounge wine tasting) and he still has 3hrs downtown...
plenty of time to stroll around, get a first impression and so on.
(most tours ala "Europe in 7days" prolly spend less time in Munich, I reckon ).

I'd take the train (~10e RT with a daypass), Taxis are ~120e RT

all depends on what the OP is lookin for, of course. all other options are also good, thanks for bringing them up...

wolvie007 PM me if you need detailed info or wanna meet up for a drink

To Kloster Andechs, home of the world's best beer, have the cab wait while you drink 5-6 litres

Kloster Andechs is nice but that is really far away from the MUC airport. It's at the Ammersee which means it's about 75 kilometers away.
In the little timeframe the OP has I would rather go to downtown than making all the way to Andechs.

I would take a typical bavarian meal at the Franziskaner for example and then walk around a little bit in this nice area where also the Franziskaner, a lot of shops and attracions are located.

You're right, especially with the thick snow on the ground...

Doesn't matter if there is snow on the ground or not it's too far for such a short time...
But it's up to the OP.

Thanks for replies!

Thank you all for your replies, it's much appreciated, especially so quickly.

I'm flying beginning of June, so hopefully snow is not an issue.

My flight arrives from Montreal at 5:30am, and my connection to Valencia is at 11:15am, so just under 6 hours.

Unfortunately, my wife doesn't like to cut things close timewise so I think going into Munich is probably out of the question.

The hotel seems like the best idea, can someone please provide contact details?

Am I able to go to the hotel upon arrival and then get back into the F lounge before my flight to Valencia?
