need to re-issue ticket when upgrading using *A miles?

Quick question:

- AC ticket
- LH segment upgraded C -> F using AC/AE miles

LH agent could see the upgrade, but said AC had to re-issue the ticket.

Is this correct?

I'm 99% sure that AC does *not* need to re-issue the ticket since the upgrade is merely "affixed" to the PNR, while re-issung the ticket into "O" class would in fact cause some issues (such as original booking class being overriden resulting in no mileage credit)

I only have experience with a SQ upgrade Y-->I using LH miles and my ticket (SQ stock) was reissued with the leg in business showing booking class I. The original Y ticket credited without fuss on TK.

So yes, I think it should be reissued.

Of course it needs. What else should be the basis for your flight and the basis for LH to get the money from AC?
