LOT WAW to EWR new route in September

Just saw this and didn't see it posted anywhere else. New service WAW-EWR.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/travel...pril/91462038/

I've done the Dreamliner from JFK to WAW in Business Class a couple of times and really like the seat and product. Wonder what the J seats will be like on this leased 767-300.

Empty probably. Full at the back though, and chances are more comfortable then 3-3-3 on the 787.

LOT new/cancelled/changed routes

As well as the new WAW - EWR route (posted here http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/lufth...september.html)

LOT have also made changes to JFK and added a new LAX service.
Source: http://www.routesonline.com/news/38/...om-april-2017/

LOT Polish Airlines yesterday (04OCT16) opened reservation for planned Warsaw – Los Angeles service, previously announced by the airline. The Star Alliance member will begin this route with Boeing 787-8 aircraft 4 times a week, effective from 03APR17. Planned schedule as follow.

LO021 WAW1120 – 1440LAX 788 26
LO023 WAW1630 – 1950LAX 788 15

LO022 LAX1630 – 1250+1WAW 788 26
LO024 LAX2140 – 1800+1WAW 788 15

http://www.routesonline.com/news/38/...rvice-changes/

LOT Polish Airlines in summer 2017 season is adjusting operational aircraft for Warsaw – New York JFK route, based on yesterday’s schedule update. From 29APR17 to 29JUL17, 2 of 9 weekly flights will be served by EuroAtlantic’s Boeing 767, instead of Boeing 787-8 aircraft. EuroAtlantic aircraft will operate on LO006/007 service.

LO006 WAW1155 – 1540JFK 763 36
LO026 WAW1700 – 2015JFK 788 D

LO007 JFK1815 – 0900+1WAW 763 36
LO027 JFK2200 – 1230+1WAW 788 D

In yesterday’s report, LOT Polish Airlines is resuming Warsaw – Newark service. As a result of service addition, peak season frequency for Warsaw – New York JFK has been revised to 9 weekly, instead of 12.

I'm excited about the LAX service.. I don't know if that many people around WAW (and Poland) need the service badly, but still, I think it will be nice to try LOT C on a longer flight.

I imagine they're counting on interest in the route not only on domestically, but also regionally throughout Central/Eastern Europe to fill the seats, especially in the front (otherwise this won't last long...).

Frankly I was expecting IAD before LAX.

Re LAX -

Plenty of competition from Europe these days (note that OS has also recently announced the launch of LAX from VIE) however, with some decent fares, LO could attract significant connecting traffic from nearby countries and not only.

I am so looking forward to the LAX service. And 4X weekly!!! I hate having to connect at ORD and flying UA for the domestic U.S. segment. I also like that 2 of the weekly flights have a late departure from WAW. And as others have stated, I think LO is going after the Baltic/Eastern European traffic more than the Polish traffic. And LO having a Premium Economy cabin gives them an advantage over some other carriers.

A few kind of new routes for LOT... out of TLL, starting Nov 19: LOT as the new strategic partner for Nordica.

LOT replaces Adria Airways as the ICAO/IATA code provider for Nordica flights and ticket booking platform. Nordica-branded CRJs are expected to fully take over the WAW-TLL route. TLL-HAM service expected later next year. Route map with Nordica-branded flights in red, normal LOT flights in white. LOT also buys 49% of shares of Nordica's subsidiary Regional Jet.

Nordica FAQ.

Interesting. If memory serves me right, the last time they offered a long-haul direct connection outside their main hub and from a regional airport (KRK) was back in 2010 (ORD indeed together with YYZ). I suppose the forecasted decent loads due to significant ethnic traffic played an important role in such decision, even though yield-wise I'm relatively sure that the numbers will not be as substantial as the actual volumes in terms of passengers. It can work alright, though, as a summer-only service.

I think the flight was losing a lot of money on these flights as the runway was too short to accommodate a fully loaded with B767. I wonder, if they would have the same issue with B787.

LOT just ordered 3 more dreamliners, this time the bigger 789 version, leased from ACG. They will join the fleet in 2018, starting service in the summer schedule.

Big doings in Warsaw recently.

24 C spots, bump from 18 on the smaller dream. Same amount of PE seats, rest of the increase is in the back.
Flying to ORD/YYZ/JFK probably and opening up the smaller planes for additional frequency/routes to Asia.
