Talking Cheap Award Tickets (Free Business class?)

Hi

Last week I bought my first Award Tickets from São Paulo to Vienna. It was really cheap, I wrote a lot about how bad is MM program, but found business class for 48 EURO!!! I did not believe that it is possible, before that I called to German MM and asked for a ticket from VIE to RIO or SAO Paulo, 'support' told me that I have to pay 135k miles and 500 euro taxes for Business if I want to fly with Portugal or Swiss, so I decided to end my trip with BRAZIL.

Anyway, I am happy, but I wounder, is it always so? From Brazil to Europe is it always cheap? and does anyone know any other destinations with price not more than 100 EURO for a business class? I would like to buy for a Winter a trip to Costa Rica, but nothing found anything yet. Any inside info?

Fuel surcharges are banned for flights starting in Brazil, hence why it was so cheap.

Can you still book those if your M&M address is based in Europe? Or does it reprice at the 'normal' rip-off tax level when you get to the stage when you actually pay?

The bottom line is that we can rip LH off 500€ when flying ex Brazil. I know pretty well that I have to pay YQ and getting such relief is a windfall profit for me.

What prevents other countries from doing this?

Flights to/from Brazil also have higher baggage allowances as well!
