well, my experience is then just very different from yours.

748 and 330 FRA-BOS. I fly that quite often. HUGE difference, same route

Flying FRA-BOS today on the 330. F6 still available (the 748 btw is F0!), so this should be a nice ride

BTW, I'd prefer the F in the 330 to the B748 any day, anyway. Enjoy!

Lufthansa A330 first class phased out?

Is it true that Lufthansa has phased out First class on their a330s? Because this is found on planespotters.

https://www.planespotters.net/airlin...ansa?refresh=1
If so, do these planes have the newer seats (a340, 747-400) or the older seats (a380, 747-8)?

At present First Class is installed on three LH aircraft types- 747-800, Airbus A380 and A340-600. The seats are all one type (although I’m sure experts here will be able to highlight minor differences!!)- brown upholstery, lie flat, ottoman. First was removed from A330 some time ago.

I believe there were still A330s with First cabin flying as late as last year, but I they were not sold as F.

Why the A330 had First Class but the A340-300s didn't?

Actually on lufthansa.com if you open seatmaps you will see on some A330 F class.
Most probably they are sold as business. I even had years ago business ticketed flight on F seat with C service.
So LH can use them now on previous A346 routes where F is required.

Well the entertainment system is different. The older aircraft (a340, 747-400) has a better larger more up to date screen than the newer aircraft (a380, 747-8) of which their screen is smaller and more out of date

LH had the old first class (blue upholstery, rippled silver-grey thing at the side) on all l/h aircraft... A300 didn’t really count as l/h so iirc it only went up to C and I’m afraid my memory doesn’t go far back far enough to A310 and beyond... The 747-200 certainly had it upstairs. When the current F came in it was fitted on 380, 748, 330, 346 and in a modified form upstairs on 744. Quite soon after it was taken back off 330 and 744 and the current C was installed on them instead- whatever seat plans say there are no 330 in service with F seats left on them. I don’t think 343 ever had the new F- I think they were just earmarked as part of the overall reduction in first class. I believe they went straight from old blue F to current C.... Happy to be corrected if anyone remembers current F on 343 !!

I am almost 95% sure I was on A333 F with new F product...

But I also find an trip review form end of december 2017 on A333 new F
https://traveluxblog.com/2017/12/27/...rbus-a330-300/

Also on https://www.lufthansa.com/us/en/333 you will see that there is verison with only C and verison with F as well.

But will see.

All A330s lost F in 2016-18. All A343 and A330 were originally delivered with F, only some of the A346 came without F in 2003-06.

All A330 have the same B/E diamond C seat as the rest of the fleet (except for the A359 who has a slightly structurally updated seat with Panasonic eX3 IFE) . The IFE in the A330 is retrofitted RAVE (similar to A346, A343 & B744) on most aircraft, except D-AIKP/Q/R/S who have the Panasonic eX2 (same as B748 & A380).

Yes, perfectly logical... As I say, current F was installed on 330 then removed not too many years after.

If thats the case, then Lufthansa needs to update their website.
