Smile Not your usual LH F vs. LX F question

Hello LH forum,

I have an award booking in LH C with F waitlisted to JNB for July. As it's our honeymoon trip I'd be really keen to travel in F at least on the way there.
Now F availability with LX has opened up.

Two quick questions:

- Should I grab these seats and risk paying another change fee if LH F opens up? More importantly, would it be really worth switching?

- I traveled LH F before, but never tried the FCT: is there any way to have MUC-FRA-ZRH-JNB instead of MUC-ZRH-JNB? I am assuming that a same-day LX F ticket would give us access to the FCT.

Thank you for your advice!

Hi Malmostoso,

I'd switch to LX F and be happy. Personally, I enjoy LH F a bit more, but having said that: a) it's a night flight so you will spend most of the time asleep, b) I know my better half would not want to go out of her way (MUC-FRA-ZRH?!) just to spend more time on the ground on the way to honeymoon destination.

LX F is a great product and you can enjoy the F lounge in MUC and ZRH.

My 2 cents.

Not your usual LH F vs. LX F question

Especially the new FCL E ZRH...
Grab it as long as availability is still open...

From the design FCT is the same as FCL FRA.

Thank you for your replies. I got the seats without FRA segment.

My SO thought I was a bit mad to want to go to the FCT that badly, but would have indulged me

I look forward to trying LX F!

Which dates did you search, and have SWISS released F space on any other routes?

Unless OP is Senator and booking with Miles&More.

Congrats, OP (on both the LX F opportunity, and the general nuptial bliss, etc). I think you both will really enjoy LX F.

Yes, SEN and booking with M&M.
I had been stalking F availability on MUC-JNB for 6 months now.

@TheTakeOffRush: thank you

Not your usual LH F vs. LX F question

My LX F flights have always been better than my LH F flights.
LX food hits my taste better and service has always been better, more attentive, warmer and more genuine on LX.
Ok, old F design on A340 is dated but the seat has great comfort.
My sister, who did make several trips on LX F and LH F with me, also prefers LX F.

Just make sure to book a sufficiently early MUC-ZRH to fully enjoy the new FCL E at ZRH. No later than 17:00 from MUC, I would recommend.

That explains it. For a second I thought SWISS had accidentally released O inventory after the migration to Amadeus.

I don't know why they released it, but they released a lot of availability. Every date combination in July now yields two seats in F. I'm sure it will be gone quickly.

I disagree. LX has always excellent catering while LH can sometimes be worse than a high school cantine (on my latest trip to EZE they served frozen food...and the food was really mediocre at best). To be fair I also had excellent food on LH F but it's just not consistent. LX's hard product to JNB is outdated but comfortable enough with very good catering. They also seem to have upgraded their wine list, at least yesterday they served Cos d'Estournel on GRU-ZRH.
Congratulations! You can't go wrong with LX. Enjoy it.
