Lufthansa lounges german internet

So, I couldn't find any threads on this, so I thought I would ask if anybody had noticed. When you go into some (most? all?) Lufthansa lounges, the internet seems to give your computer a German IP address. Why is this? I first noticed in LHR. And then yesterday found the same thing in EWR. Is there a practical purpose for this? Or is it just some random thing that Telekom does?

DeutscheTelekom has the global contract to provide internet in lounges since 10-12 years. I recall a German technician installing the router & other equipment in the DTW lounge when it opened in 2009. They probably use a VPN/WAN of some sort that comes out in Germany.

Kind of a cool idea in my opinion and it "should" make life easier for anyone living in or doing business out of Germany.
