Connecting in Munich [MUC]
Hi everybody,
I have read a few other threads but have not found out whether this combination of non-schengen to non-schengen connection (in Eco) should work.
LH 5063 Zurich Munich 07:15 08:15
LH 3350 Munich Istanbul 08:45 12:15
I know that the incoming flight usually uses a gate. Does anybody know if the IST flight is also departing from the same area? Would I need to go through passport control? (I assume that no security is needed).
The trip would be on Good Friday, so that should help a little bit...
Thank you for any insights,
Reto

Since it's non-Schengen to non-Schengen, you will not need to go through passport control. Since both your flights are non-Schengen shorthaul, I think they will probably both depart from the lower level (G gates).
I don't know whether you will have to go through security or not.
This connection should be tight, but doable. Don't forget, if LH sold you this as a through-ticket, then they're pretty confident that it will work.

In MUC, on the other hand, I would not have a problem with it. Quite the contrary.

I often fly PHL to MUC on US and then MUC to PRG on LH. The connection time between is 40 minutes and there was no problem to get the flight, when US is on time. You have to go trough the security control between level H and G.

Connection time 30 min at MUC
I will fly from BRN via MUC to PEK on November 2 and the connection time seems to be rather tight (30 min). Given that LH sells tickets with this connection, I assume that in theory this works well. However, do somebody have experience whether with regard to miss the flight (or the checked baggage to miss the flight)?
Moreover, I saw that business seems to be fully booked on the MUC-PEK flight. Does this increase the risk that you might "miss" the flight because the flight might be overbooked?
Many thanks.

Using the search function will bring up quite some threads dealing with connections in Munich.
30 Minutes is a legal connection time for MUC so you should be fine with your flights. The airport is designed for very quick connections. The only issue is when your flight is significantly delayed.
How booked business class is should have no influence on your chance of catching the flight. You will get your MUC-PEK boarding bass in BRN already so your seat will be confirmed at this stage already.

I recently had 10mins between FRA-MUC and MUC-GRU, due to inbound being late. No help from LH. No one at the gate helping. And this in C. You need to go all the way back to the central concourse, then up to passport control jumping the cue on two hundred other pax and then a couple of conveyour belts back to H28. I was the only one who made it out of a bunch of 15 pax. Lousy service on behalf of LH. But lot's of empty seats in C that morning on the MUC-GRU... plus me clutching to my asthma spray as we climbed past the beautiful alps. Could not have done it at different age (am 37) or with family and kids.

impossible connection in Munich? any advice appreciated
Hi all, I'm a new poster and I'm hoping I can draw on the forum members' collective knowledge here.
Here's my story. Last week I bought a ticket to fly from Kansas City to Sarajevo to surprise my girlfriend for New Year's. I decided to go because I saw a flight advertised on airfare.com for less than half of what any other booking service was offering. (Unfortunately, it wasn't until after I bought the ticket that I read reviews about airfare.com and learned about their less than stellar reputation)
My problem is the connection time in Munich. I leave Washington at 10:15 PM on December 30th, and I'm scheduled to land in Munich at 10:20 AM on the 31st. What I didn't realize before I bought the ticket (again, unfortunately) is that my flight from Munich to Sarajevo is scheduled to take off at 10:55 AM, only 35 minutes after I'm scheduled to land in Munich.
Is it possible that I can actually make a 35 connection on an international flight from Germany to Bosnia? What makes me even more concerned is that I have been checking the additional information on the e-ticket, and the 'last check-in' time listed for my lufthansa flight from Munich to Sarajevo is 40 minutes before departure flight.
If my flight from the U.S. doesn't even arrive until 35 before...(luckily, both flights are in Terminal 2)...there's no way I'm making it, right? Unless I get lucky and my transatlantic flight arrives super early. Am I just out of luck here? If so, what happens? Is this a situation where Lufthansa will help me out, and either find another flight to Sarajevo on another airline (if possible), or give me a seat on the next day's flight to Sarajevo?
I'm kicking myself for not thinking this through beforehand, and I realize I'm responsible for the mess. I was just excited by the idea of seeing my girlfriend for New Year's, but now I'm worried that because of my failure to plan this out it may not happen. Anyway, if anyone has any advice on how I should handle this situation, please let me know. Thanks very much for any help.
Chris
