Hey guys,
Are the chances much thinner to get a SmartUpgrade bid approved if one of the legs is on a different airline?
I'd considering booking an economy ticket from Brussels to Phuket, but the Bangkok > Phuket route is either via Bangkok Airways or Thai Airways only.
Would this decrease my chances of getting an upgrade bid approved as it's not an Austrian flight itself?
Are the chances much thinner to get a SmartUpgrade bid approved if one of the legs is on a different airline?

Just as a data point - I've given the option to Smart Upgrade on UA stock ticket that contained only OS flights.
I bought it on UA stock because the price was the same (without OS credit card fee), and it would bring some more miles than distance base (as small as the difference might be).

However, we did got upgraded at the gate on DBV-VIE to business, on a 767 no less. I'm not complaining on getting a great upgrade (even if for an hour flight) even though I was willing to pay for it.

Is this concept still going? On my booking it is possible to directly upgrade each flight segment, but they are asking silly prices (e.g. EUR139 for DUS-VIE; EUR199 VIE-GVA). As whisky rightly pointed out, that makes for an expensive meal and it would be better to just preorder a DO&CO meal for EUR15, and as FTL I get lounge access anyway.
