I am on the Frankfurt to Narita 380 in two days.
I wish they would all be scared and decide to fly with another aircraft type.
I could get a whole economy cabin to myself.

They sent an A346 to NRT today. Two of LH's A380s are currently grounded.

I am reading this thread as I am watching a TV programme here in the UK about how RR build and test aircraft engines.
Not long ago I also saw a programme about building the wings for the A380.
I am amazed at the care and attention that is put into building these things. The wing stress test was amazing to watch.
When a named group of 'engineers' with an international reputation for rigorous study or a regulatory body says there is a problem then I will listen but I won't pay attention to what basically amounts to a couple of guys with some unspecified complaint sounding off.

so it seems that i will not get a 380 to Narita tomorrow???
I don't want to fly to NRT on a 346!!!! no... no... no... 346!!!!!
I would rather a 747-400... Lufthansa ops can you hear me??
I hope there will be no delays out of Frankfurt as I have to change airport and catch a ANA flight intra-Japan at Haneda!!!

If you are in Y most people prefer the A346 to the 744.

It looks like today's LH710 will also be an A346, but this is not the right thread for this discussion since according to oliver2002 two A380s are out of circulation but not for a check for the QF wing crack.

If today is another 346 most chances are that tomorrow will be the same again.
I would rather a ANA 777-300ER but they are not going to give me that for sure.
Flying back on ANA 787 first flight HND-FRA 21 January. Trip is ticketed by ANA with ANA booking code. Japan interior flights are ANA also.

Hmm... didn't NH postpone the HND 787 flight?
LH is ceratinly going to rebook people on anything else, as a big whale (or lady bee ) is being replaced by a long A346 that has nowhere close the capacity. So pick up the phone and talk to LH @:-)

From what LH station manager friend in Nice told me, the whalebee flight to NRT wasn't fully booked in whYY so chances are that the 346 will be good enough to accomodate everybody.
He told me the first cabin was all blocked with empty seats at the time he accessed the flight. Must be a light load. This is why I thought maybe I could get a whole whYY cabin to myself which won't be the case on a 346.
Some of the 787 flights are postponed but the 21 Jan. Haneda inaugural date to Frankfurt is maintained.
I would have changed the date otherwise.
They don't want anymore bad publicity for the brand new 787 and neither for ANA for sure.
The late morning Frankfurt to Haneda flight on the 21st is highly advertised, even more so than the Haneda to Frankfurt at 1.00 AM on the 21st.
Both flights are fully booked in both classes.

They are operating 3 flights to PEK next week and 5 flights to FRA in January as planned. HND-FRA will be on alternate days during February instead of daily as originally scheduled.
The load seems to be quite low in all classes in the next few days which might explain why they chose this route for downgrading from the A380 to the A346.

I don't know the number of pax per comparison between 380 and 346. Also depends on the 346 configuration I guess.
Any idea?

Suppose there are only half eco booked on the 380, making 210 pax they will all fit on a 346 - will be tight but feasible
... unless they also take people from other LH flights and send them to NRT on flight 710 to connect to wherever they are going.
