Santa Monica Hotel Recommendations?
Friends on a budget are going to a wedding next month in Santa Monica. Wedding is at Shudders. They are looking for something nearby (preferably walkable) which won't blow the budget. (I can hear the laughing already ) Any suggestions? Hotel, decent motel, B&B all OK.

I like the Georgian on Ocean Drive. Quiet, comfy, a couple minutes' walk from the Promenade.
Avoid the Hotel California, right next to the Santa Monica Pier access ramp... you can check out any time, but you can never, etc.

I don't think the Casa del Mar can be considered as a "budget" hotel...unless you have a very large money tree (which then I would like to be your friend). Try Four Points by Sheraton Santa Monica for something a little more down-to-earth.

There is also the Radisson on 2nd St between Wilshire and California ... it can often be substantially less pricey than the true beach front properties.

Try Holiday Inn.

I believe the Sheraton Four Points is a bit newer that the old Holiday Inn - it is on Pico about 6 blocks from Shutters - there is also a Doubletree by the civic center and a modest but well located Best Western on Ocean (across from the Palisades Park)

TRRed.
Can you share the price range your friends are looking for. It will help narrow the reccomendations. I'd second the Holiday Inn suggestion.
