LAX HOTELS: If all prices are the same which would best bet

I have been reading the reviews for the LAX hotels. They are mixed depending on which website one goes to. I value the opinions of the FT family.

I have an upcoming trip thru LAX that will require an overnight stay. Prices are influx right now and there are some good deals. With that said, assuming the prices are the same or within a couple of dollars of each other, what would be the best choice? Customer service is not a priority to me because it is a one night stay.

In my opinion, I don't know if any of the mainline (Westin, Sheraton, Hilton, Renaissance, Marrott, and Crowne Plaza) hotels on Century Blvd. have great differences between each other; they are all pretty decent.

I have a similar stay coming up, an overnight at LAX. Same thing, all properties were within a few dollars of each other. After reading some of the flyertalk reviews, I booked the Sheraton Gateway.

The OP hasn't learned how to buy hotel rooms.

A $70 Priceline bid for 4* LAX should garner you the Sheraton Gateway or the Westin, which are the only two 4* hotels in the LAX zone.

Or you could negotiate your price the old-fashioned way by calling the hotel and meekly asking how much is a room.

Sheraton Gateway..Else I would vote for 4 points or somewhere that provides free internet. Westin is nickel n dime when it comes to that.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (SymbianOS/9.2; U; Series60/3.1 NokiaE71-2/100.07.76; Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 ) AppleWebKit/413 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/413)

I'd pick either the Radisson or the Courtyard, the two hotels that are physically closest to LAX.

Both offer free HSIA and (more importantly) both offer the easiest walk to the Sepulveda In-and-Out

I know how priceline works, I know how to get a hotel room and maybe I will call the hotel and meekly ask for the best price. Right now, I can get the Gateway for $81 and the Westin for $89. Others are similar in price.

I was just asking which would be the best bet based upon cleanliness, shuttle service, etc. if the prices were all the same. Price is important but with that said, sometimes you have to give up alittle to gain alot. I don't like staying in dives. Not to say the Gateway, Radisson, Westin, etc are dives. If I was basing my stay based upon dollars then I would pick something like a Motel 6 or Travel Lodge.

Thanks to most for the replys.

IIRC shuttle service is now pooled. Each hotel has to team up with others, and I've seen buses that stop at as many as four places. Consequently it may be difficult to predict which one property will be the best for shuttles.

One thing about the Radisson, it is close enough that a walk to the terminals is not difficult (although it wouldn't be short if you were going to Bradley or AA).

The City of LA forced the shuttle pooling saying that there was too many bus trips up and down Century Blvd. each day, causing excessive pollution. The hotels probably whined, but I suspect they did not care, as it certainly saved them money and created a more-or-less level palying field service-wise.

My vote goes to the Hilton. Treated well every time. They also have a nice club lounge with very friendly staff.

I stayed at the Renaissance for two whole months a few years back, and I can say it's nice, neat, but nothing special to write home about. There is no free internet. It was an exorbitant $20/night when I was there four years ago, so things may have changed. I was fortunate enough to have a room that was facing the Courtyard Marriott, so I could borrow some of their wifi access.

I did stroll through the Courtyard Marriott during my sojourn in the LAX hotels and I think the Renaissance had nicer and better kept hallways, but again, this was four years ago. There is a Burger King right across the street.

There aren't any -bad- LAX hotels at the 2.5-4* levels except for the Holiday Inn. The Westin, Sheraton, Hilton, Radisson, and Courtyard are all fine properties with about equal shuttle service (the bus intervals are mandated by the Local Airport Bureaucracy to promote cleaner air).

Agree.

Maybe better gate scheduling would help more in regards of cleaner air than pooling hotel shuttle busses

On Priceline you should get the Crowne Plaza for about 55$ all in. I am always very pleased. Also I'm a big fan of the 4 Points and in the 4* section Sheraton Gateway / Hilton. Dont like the Westin though...
