Where to get gas?

I am renting a car this week at LAX - probably either National or Avis. Where do I buy gas when I go to return it? The last time I was in LAX with a rental I had a heck of a time finding a place, and got completely lost even with a GPS!

There are a number of gas stations on Manchester Blvd. (which will appear as Highway 42 on a map), just north of LAX and the majority of the car rental locations. There are also gas stations on Aviation and Century Blvds. and also on Sepulveda Blvd., just south of LAX.

I found the new Inglewood Vons on Manchester by the Forum sells gas with a $.03 per gallon discount for Safeway/Vons Club members, but I wouldn't recommend driving there unless you are familiar with the area, as it is not in the best part of town.

If you are approaching the airport fron the north on the 405, take the La Tijera exit. There are a couple of gas stations there that usually have non-ripoff prices.

Once you have refueled, it is just a couple of minutes to the rental car return areas.

Purchase your gas at the ARCO AM/PM located on the NW corner of Century & La Cienega. They only take cash and ATM cards, if you need to use a credit card my 2nd choice is the Exxon located at Arbor Vitae & Aviation. Watch out for some gas stations near LAX that have jacked-up prices just to catch returning car renters who are in a hurry.

Get gas, and save the receipts, both when you rent and when you return! The $3-$10 worth of gas the RAC "forgot" to put in the "full" tank is refundable if you buy gas a few minutes after renting, and you saved the receipt.
