great, you can get an apple, some celery, stale bread and some bottled water at any time of the day... Do alcoholic drinks, no real food. Its a joke.

I have inspected the Diamond Lounges at Caesar's, Flamingo, and Harrah's Las Vegas, although not Paris/Bally's, within the last two months, on multiple visits. The three I visited all have the shorter hours and the hummus/salsa thing going on. Most disappointing. But, as you say, it does cut down on the crowds since no one wants to visit the lounge to eat any more. Older folks (the Harrah's crowd) don't consider chips a meal, and I heard quite a bit of grumbling. To me, the most ridiculous thing is rolling up the sidewalks at 9 (!) PM. They call that Vegas?

The paris lounge now closes at 8 pm.
One other "amenity" which paris has is internet access (one computer); the last time I was in caesars they had 4. So for the non-hungry they still serve some purpose...

8 PM! Why don't they change the name from Paris to Scrooge?

yes, I agree it is lame which is probably why it's open all day. My point was that you at least have access to a lounge that does not have restrictions in when it is open.

don't worry about aceman; he enjoys being snarky. You know, those English. But, deep down, he's pretty tame (well, actually, not very tame). Though, I did burst his Big Baccarat bubble at RIO Las Vegas.

I didn't even consider aceman's response snarky. Anything by the regulars here on this board is fine by me. We're all family and have one common goal....JACKPOT!! .

Well, I'm certain you'll hold your own just fine. Though, civicmon posted a bit about our exploits in AC last week on OMNI.

So, if you are in Vegas 26 June to 29 June, be sure to visit my birthday celebration (specifics to be determined) at The Palazzo Las Vegas. [This is also an open invitation to anyone else in the FT Vegas community ]

My itinerary details are up in the Coming to Las Vegas thread.

Yeah, I saw that. Alas, I'll be on vacation in Europe during that time but definitely would have made it to LV if I could. May I wish you an early happy birthday!

So can I send you my palazzo grazie card so I can get the points since I'm really going to need it this year . Kidding.

But, isn't Palazzo/Venetian sort of like being in Europe? Kidding.

The Paris Diamond Lounge in Las Vegas is open Sunday - Thursday from 4PM - 9PM, and Friday and Saturday from 12PM - 9PM. Yes, they did change the food selection back in April of 2008 to chips, dips, salsa, pretzels, and deserts. Also, the 'hot' food is from 4PM - 6PM instead of the old hours of 6PM - 8PM.
I am anxious to see how the handle the upcoming football season. I have spent many hours in the Diamond Lounge on Saturdays and Sundays watching college and pro games, eating hot dogs, and having a great time. I wonder if they will open the Diamond Lounge earlier on Sundays for the pro games... I have asked, but I am not really 'holding my breath on this one!'
Why the changes in Vegas and not Atlantic City? Apparently they have two different supervisors for the casino operations, one on the East and one on the West. I have been told these changes are from directives from the West Coast advisors... if they keep cutting back, they will lose more and more players, I am afraid.
Either way... the Diamond Lounge at the Paris is the absolute best! The manager of the room, Patrick is super nice. The two main bartenders, Freddi and Sal, are two of the nicest guys you'll ever meet, and so fun to just listen to and laugh with. The waiters/butlers are tremendous as well... the best in the Paris. Get to know these guys... they are like family to me, and take great care of me when I am in Vegas every month... sometimes twice a month depending on the travel schedule. Just realize these changes are not THEIR fault... and don't take out the frustrations on them! Believe me, I think they miss the 'good 'ol days' as well!

Happy traveling!

back in may, they were closing the paris lounge at 8 pm--they must have extended the hours since then (to 9 pm.) When i used a lounge (before the cutbacks) the hot food was not that "exciting" then; is it any better now?
[at least they had sandwichs, fresh fruit, cheese in the "good old days."]
as a contrast, caesars in atlantic city, yesterday 8/3, had (1) 3 types of sandwichs: egg salad, beef, turkey with cheese, (2) 3 types of salad, (3) hot macaroni, and a hot beef dish, (4) two types of soup, (5) assorted deserts and pastries, cookies--these are served all day (during which it was open--12 noon to 8 pm i think(?); the lounge overlooks the ocean--which you could never have in las.
caesars ac rarely has lines waiting to get it, ballys, harrahs and showboat usually have lines.
[other ac lounges have pizza too.]
