Consolidated "Luggage storage at/near LAS?" thread

.... So the 'diva and I are going to LAS this weekend for a LONG overnight and aren't getting a hotel, but are thinking of taking a change of clothes and some stuff to freshen up, but need to find a place to store it while we're there. I haven't found a place yet in the states that does left luggage anywhere, so I'm not sure if there's a good strategy as an "alternative".

Suggestions? TIA!

I would strongly recommend getting a room. Try New Frontier or Westward Ho for a cheap yet on the strip location.

But if you don't I would think almost any casino bell desk will take your luggage. They certainly don't want you dragging it around the casino all night.

The bell desk sounds like it may be the way to go. Any tips or tricks for it - throw the bellhop a "tip" or will they do it gratis?

Baggage Check

Any decent hotel in Vegas will check your luggage.
Resonable to tip a couple bucks when checking it
and claiming it.

Just give your bags to the bellhop at the front door or bell desk of any hotel and tell them you need to check your luggage. Give the guy $1/bag now, and also on your way out. You will get a receipt. Take this receipt to the bell desk on your way out.

Luggage Question

A friend of mine is getting into Vegas 9 hours before two others, his name is not on the reservation at Circus Circus. He doesnt want the hotel to charge them for an extra person. Can he get away with asking the bellman to hold his luggage even though he's "not" staying at the hotel? I said a $10 tip would not make it a problem.

Should be no problem, they only need your name, not your room number. I even don't think he has to explain the situation to the bellman.

I'm sure it will be NO problem... tips always work in The Vegas; though, some might say the bigger problem is that he is staying at "Circus Circus."

no problem at all, do that sort of thing all the time when i arrive in vegas early or am going somewhere on the way to the airport. Don't explain anything, and don't even tip until you get the bags back, and $5 should be more then enough.

Dont even worry about how many are in the room, they charge by the room there not by the person, i have friends that stay in vegas with 4 of them sleeping on the floor and its never a problem.

Might want to do the $20 trick to get a larger room though....

Tip the bellman a couple dollars per bag on drop off min.
No tip is a rude gesture in Vegas

If you are nice and tip the bellman well when you pick them up
he can blow you past the cab line. I use this trick at the Venetian all the time.

No tip is ever expected when dropping off bags. Tip when retrieving them.

Double-bellhop tip question

4* or 5* Strip hotel. What is the appropriate tip for:

a) the bellhop who takes your luggage (as you are checking into the hotel) and who explains that a different bellhop will deliver the bags to your room

b) the different bellhop who delivers the bags to your room

c) the bellhop who rakes the bags from your room at checkout, and you don't know whether he or she will deliver them to your cab, or whether he or she will merely check them leaving you to have them delivered by

d) the bellhop who delivers them to your cab

Is there a place to store luggage at LAS?

Considering an early morning flight to LAS, staying the day, leaving on a red-eye to HNL. Is there a storage place at the airport for luggage?

From the LAS airport website:

Lockers

With no key to carry or misplace, you can enjoy your visit to McCarran while your belongings are securely stored using Smarte Carte's state-of-the-art biometric technology. You can quickly access a self-serve locker located beyond the security checkpoints by using the touch screen rental point. Items can be stored for a maximum of 48 hours per Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations.

Medium (17" x 12" x 31")
$2 per hour/$8 daily maximum

Large(21" x 12" x 31")
$2 per hour/$8 daily maximum

Jumbo (35" x 19" x 31")
$3 per hour/$12 daily maximum.

For those prices, you could just bring your bag to any of the Strip hotels, tip the bellmen a couple of bucks and you're good to go. I've done that once or twice before.
