sounds like you really struck out. 2 queen beds are much better then 1 king bed. If the lady has spastic leg syndrome or talks in her sleep you can tip toe to the other queen bed when she falls asleep. when she asks why you moved to the other bed, just say you wanted to make sure she was well rested for today and tonight.
Does anyone have any Treasure Island experience? We are staying in a comped room already but wondered if we might get lucky....it is for 2 nights starting this friday.

If I want an upgrade to a Bella or Prestige suite at the Palazzo tower (preferably) or Venetian tower with maybe credits for food/drinks or spa,
should I tip $50 or lower/higher?
I have only ever tried it at the MGM Grand but it has worked each time. If staying at the MGM, do NOT attempt it at their checkin counter at McMarran. You must do it at the hotel. 2 or 3 times we received a complete upgrade of a room.
Once (in addition to mentioning it was our anniversary - it really was, lol) we received SIX complimentary buffet passes because he said they were booked up (they likely were as our anniversary falls on the USA July 4th long weekend).
Last time the woman said we were set to go in an airport facing room and offered a strip view.
We use $20 everytime - no more.
We're going to try a different hotel next time and are staying at NYNY in December and will try again.

I recently returned from a great trip at The Cosmo. I offered to "take care of" my check-in agent if they were able to get us a view of the Bellagio fountains (I paid for 2 double Queen studio balcony rooms). I also told them my son was getting engaged on the trip-which was the truth btw. THey gave me an awesome room 5417 in the West Tower with a great view of the Bellagio fountains, Paris Eiffel Tower and mountains. I paid the clerk $40. Considering it was an additional $140 for the entire stay for that room, I considered that a bargain.
THe next day I attempted to move my son's room (they were on a different floor with a boring view). This was July 5th so 3000 rooms were checking out, being cleaned, and checked in again. They were able to reserve the room next to us, and even gave us a $50 resort credit when they couldn't get the room ready until 11pm. Considering a) I didn't pay any more for this much more expensive room and b) moves are normally only handled on a "if possible" basis, this was simply amazing. I found the agent the next day and gave him $30. Again, totally worth it.
I plan on using $100 for a check-in tip (have a one bedroom terrace suite reserved). i'll report back on my luck, hoping for a wrap-around upgrade again!
I'm a total amateur at this so any advice will be extremely appreciated!
I have 2 Bella Suites booked at The Palazzo each for Friday & Saturday nights. I don't care so much about a higher-floor room, and since I want the 2 queen beds per room, most other room upgrades wouldn't be real helpful unless they're mega upgrades...
Would the $20 trick help with any of the following (each of which would be very desirable): (a) early check-in Friday, (b) getting adjoining suites or (c) late check-out Sunday? Is there any other perk it would be appropriate to ask for that I'm not considering?
Since I'm checking in for two rooms, do I need to slip $40 (or just a $50 bill) into the sandwich or is $20 pretty much an accepted standard? Lastly, any thoughts as to whether it'll help/hurt my chances to mention that we're checking in for a bachelor party and one of the rooms is for the guest of honor?

Thanks a lot!
A tip will surely help, though it will not guarantee. For (b), you may want to actually just call ahead and see if they can set you up for that (or if adjoining suites like yours even exist).
Be aware, though, that in order to prep two adjoining rooms, that may decrease the likelihood that they can set you up with either (a) or (c).
I'll let wiser folks chime in on some of the other questions.

Palazzo is home to the upsell, so not sure how much pull the $20 trick has anymore. I've read you can guarantee adjoining rooms in advance if you want to pay a surcharge, so if it's important to you.... I personally wouldn't mention the bachelor party, unless the check-in clerk is a 20-something former frat boy.

Yeah when I had two rooms recently that I needed together I think they charged me 11/night per room... Kinda insane. Worst part was front desk said they would waive it for me after I had a very nice conversation with the lady who was checking me in.
They still put it on my bill cause when I booked the two rooms (also you have to call in to book more then one room you cant do quantity two on the website...) I asked to have them connected and even after I was told it was waived when I checked out I was told it was already in the reservation and they would not help me out. Even though we spent a few grand for our stay in just rooms. Oh well, their rooms are still fantastic for the price but they nickle and dime you sadly.
Just got back. We had one queen room reserved and one Terrace One Bedroom reserved for 5 nights over a weekend. Offered $200 for the two rooms. Queen ended up being upgraded to a Terrace One Bedroom with fountain view, and Terrace One Bedroom was upgraded to a wrap-around suite. Well worth the money for what we got. He threw in some F&B credit which was nice as well. I'll be sure to mention I want gym access included next time as it is $20 per visit, atrocious!
