I'm guessing Mandalay is up there in the $50/100 range.

I'm just hoping my $5 will keep the maids at Casino Royale from stealing my clothes

During my first trip to Vegas, I decided to go with the "not spend much time in the room and get a cheap room with great location-thing," and booked a weekend stay at the Imperial Palace.

Being a naive neophyte, I was not aware of the tip/bribe route, and I checked in without an offering to the clerk. I ended up with a room waaaaay in the back of the hotel with an expansive view of the parking garage. Seemed like it took about ten minutes to walk to the room from the casino

Yah well, at least now I'm prepared for my next trip there...

it's not the time spent in the room as much as the additional space. i usually stay at the Flamingo (or comparable), and when you have 5 or 6 guys stuffed in a room designed for 2, the extra floor space helps!

I know this is an old thread but your post, IceTrojan, is hilarious!

back O/T: 50 and 100 have worked at Mandalay Bay, judge by the occupancy rate and competence of checkin staff, stay as close as possible to the invited guests check in.

good luck

This really only works at a Casino Hotel, the standard Marriott and Embasy Suites, etc. is going to be a different story!

Good Luck

It works everywhere, but works best in Vegas.

Best not try it an an Embassy Suites as 99% of the rooms are the same!

I'm heading to Vegas next Sunday. Anybody had this work at the MGM?

What type of suite should I request and how much should I lay out on the counter?

edit: I am in the Grand Tower and would like to get upgraded to a Bungalow Suite.

I will be staying at New York New York next week as well, and wasn't sure if $20 would cut it or if anyone had any other advice on how much would warrant a possible upgrade.... We are currently in a Park Avenue Room.

Any help at all would be very appreciated since this will be our first time to vegas. Thanks!

I'd go with a $50. Be sure to specifically ask for the room you want (see the website).

Hi perfectdeuce, welcome to Flyertalk!

I stayed in a Grand Tower room, not viewing the strip. Upgraded to a Bungalow with a nice strip view for $30, which is the difference in the players club rate, much nicer ambience and bathrooms, just right for a honeymoon .

Try your luck with the room at the airport checkin, to avoid the crowd as your bags may take a long time to arrive. Make sure you have a players club number against your reservation, to get the rate, or call a casino host. There are tons of tips in this forum.

Enjoy vegas and good luck
Ben
PS. If you want to impress, get a lakeview room at Bellagio (at the midweek player club rate of course). Topped the bungalow for us!

I did $20 at the MGM airport last October and was upgraded from std to a minisuite.
