I was there a couple of months ago. I like it because there are usually some interesting international dishes as well as the usual shrimp and crab legs. I like making shrimp tacos with fresh pico de gallo. They also have an area where they custom make pasta to order (lots of choice and steaming hot) - I love the one with pesto. Of course Mirage also includes all you can drink beer and wine (just a few selections of each). Mirage is generally one of my favorite buffets - it's quite a bit cheaper than Wynn or Aria, so you can't expect quite the same selection, but value for price is excellent (especially with 2 free passes ).

Had the buffet at the Tropicana on Saturday. As others have noted, it's pretty expensive at $22, which I knew going in. It's also not that great, which I didn't realize. Hot food selection was pretty standard premix scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes and grits and a chorizo hash. No eggs benedict, for instance. Omelet station was standard (when the chef was there; he was AWOL for a while). Fresh fruit selection was nice. No desserts that I saw. All in all, about what you'd see at a standard hotel buffet.
I'd pass.
I'd pass.

I go there regularly, but:
(1)The price is now $100
(2)they used to have a cheese and cold-cut table--that's gone [stopped 2 months ago]
(3)On 5/15, NO caviar, they said there was a delivery problem; I'm going next month, I'll see if there is still NO caviar.
The food is still excellent; unlimited Pierre Jouet champagne might warrant $100, but if they are whittling away at items they ALWAYS had, it may not be worth it.

How difficult typically are Bally's Sterling Brunch reservations?
I've had a request in for over a month with the Amex Platinum Concierge for a party of 2 on July 15 or early on the 16th and no dice

Generally I think a month in advance is fine, not sure what the problem was for the 16th. Why did you use Amex? Just call the restaurant; I think they're actually on Open Table as well.

I usually use Amex for all my US restaurant reservations, that way I don't have to call from Europe at the appropriate time, I just email the concierge and they take care of it.
Looks like I first sent the request on May 27th, seven weeks out. I wonder why they were booked so far out that Sunday

Try the Jazz Brunch at Country Club at the Wynn, very classy. Buffet and you can order small plates from the kitchen as well. I think there's an option for bottomless Veuve (and a less expensive option for prosecco, maybe $50/30 extra?). Buffet not as big as Sterling, but plenty of options.

Weird. Looks like the first reservation I can find on Opentable.com is for August 20th, 2 months out. When I was in Vegas in April, there were reservations available about a month out (we didn't end up going). I do assume they save reservations for Total Rewards players.

I wonder if something particular is going on that weekend that it was booked so far out...

I'm still hoping for a cancellation, but my hopes are low.

Paris and Bellagio are both close to Flamingo and are two of the better buffets. I wouldn't recommend Rio. It's huge, but nothing's great and it's an unpleasant environment (lot's of kids running around, and bus boys pushing around a slop bucket between tables to empty used plates into).

I like Aria and Bellagio dinner buffets. Bellagio has king crab legs (not just those skimpy snow crab ones) and Aria has crab claws. Prime rib at Bellagio is also very good.

It comes down to how much do you want to spend and how far do you want to walk.
Besides the ones mentioned so far (which are all fine choices) you could also consider
- Planet Hollywood
- Caesars
- Wynn
- Mirage
For Paris/Caesars/PH if you'll get the value out of it the Buffet of Buffets might not be a bad idea (though notice the "upgrade charge" for Caesars/Rio):
