Haven't been to M buffet in years but it was always good. Their fried chicken was always good and crispy. I was always amazed as it's unusual to find hot crispy chicken at a buffet.

Sounds great. Another vote for M resort. I'll be there during the week (Tuesday to Friday) so I'll definitely try to take advantage of the weekday lunch deal to save good money!

I haven't been to the M Resort buffet in years (more than 5), I didn't think the absolute quality was as good as Wynn/Bellagio, but it was definitely a better value.

As for Cosmo, also probably has been > 5 years. I thought it was pretty good, if a little gimmicky.

Self-service beverages is a bit tacky. Ideally, your glass would be topped up each time you came back with a new plate of food, if the service was any good. Now you have to go carry your food back, put it down, and then go get a drink? Or juggle a plate and a glass? Hmm.

Hi,

I did not find it too bad ( I was there with my mother in July) and it was in action in Luxor for several years. After getting the food we would put the dishes on the table and go and get our drinks. ( quicker than waiting for the server)

Regards

I don't like the self serve drinks, especially in the morning when I want both coffee and orange juice. I also don't like the idea of leaving beverages unattended at the table while I get food. I'm sure it's also cut in to staff tips significantly since the waiters are now basically just busing tables.

Hi,

Good point. I had not considered leaving beverage unattended at the table whilst getting food ( My mother and I took turns to get food/drinks) if on your own.

Taking a short business trip next week and it's my first time in Vegas. I really want to see if the buffets live up to the hype I hear about. What's the biggest, grandest, highest quality buffet to hit up? I see the Wynn is the highest rated multi-cuisine buffet on Tripadvisor so I was planning on going there. Will any of them really wow me or are Vegas buffets just glorified Golden Corrals?

I've always enjoyed Garden Court at Main Street Station. It isn't the fanciest nor most luxurious by any means but reasonably priced for my budget and I like the selections they offer. Also love the fact that I can burn all the calories by strolling through Fremont St. afterwards, something I also enjoy. They also validate for the parking.

The worst of the buffets are no more than Golden Corrals (not even glorified). The best of them may wow you with the variety of food but may not do so with the quality.

We've generally found Aria to be in the top tier, and that's our go-to, especially since we get freebies from the MyVegas website and app (worth checking out if you think you will return).

I think the Sterling Brunch is generally considered to be the best but, at $100 per head, it's a little rich for my taste.

I love MSS. The casino does a quality job and the restaurant (didn't eat at the buffet) wasn't bad. Love the scratch cards with video poker.

Current Status of Buffets

I know there's a separate thread for buffets, but there's been kind of a quantum change and I think it's worth noting.

I used to mostly go to the buffets at Planet Hollywood, Paris, and Rio. I'd frequently purchase the "Buffet of Buffets" pass, which basically gives you two dinners and a breakfast.

However the price of the buffet pass crept up, and now is down to $49.99, where it was about 3-4 years ago. But they've markedly decreased the quality of the buffets.

For me, the main attraction of the buffets was prime rib, but Rio and PH didn't have it, and I assume Paris doesn't either. Bellagio still does.

So my basic question is...

1) Which buffets still have prime rib, or to put it another way, which are comparable in quality to what PH/Rio/Paris used to be? MGM? Mandalay Bay? Mirage? TI? I'm not a penny-pincher when I go to Vegas, although I'm not sure I want to pay $60 for Caesars.
2) What are the best buffets downtown? I'm spending more time there lately, and as Uber has gotten cheaper, rental cars more expensive, and parking on the strip more expensive, I'm tending to stay downtown more.

This will only be our third trip to Vegas but plan to do Carnival, Wicked Spoon and Bacchanal buffets. I see there are brunch and dinner and of course brunch is cheaper. Just wondering are there a lot of differences in the food choices between brunch and dinner that would make it worth to pay the higher amount for dinner?

Ding Ding Ding... we have a winner.

Buffets have one of the highest mark-ups in casino operations. Food costs are like 10-20% of the price of the meal, add another 5-10% for staffing (depending on location) and the rest is pure profit (or greed, depending on your view).

Le Village in Paris was promoting reservations for tonight so I made one for 600 PM.

Showed up at 515 and got in line. At 630 we were only half way there so we left.

What's the point if you're just going to slam everyone into a line with or without a reservation. They've got this $59.99 buffet pass good for unlimited access at 5 buffets over 24 hours that they are selling, which is screwing up access big time.

I am so done with LV buffets. Never again. It's Starbucks for breakfast and Subway for a mid-afternoon meal and that's it.

I'd second the poster who asked for suggestions on buffets downtown.
