Hotel Suggestion?
Hi,
I'm open for hotel suggestions. We are a family of 4 (2 kids obviously) and will stay one night @Vegas during a roadtrip.
I was interested in Hard Rock Hotel however I would like to have input of the experts. Resort fee's and tax included, I would like to stay under 100 USD.
Probably staying 10 to 11 april.
Kind regards

I think HRH has a $30+/night resort fee? That would already take a big chunk out of the $100/night budget.
If you're planning on spending a lot of time doing touristy stuff on the Strip, and have a car and are already planning on staying at a hotel off-Strip, I'd just go with one of the chains further from the Strip and avoid the resort fee. You'll have a lot of options close to $100/night that are within 10mins of the Strip. For example, I think a couple FT'ers have mentioned staying at the Doubletree by the airport, especially as it has a shuttle to the Tropicana Las Vegas.
I notice you have IHG listed in your programs - I think there is a partnership with Venetian/Palazzo. I don't know what IHG status you have and if there are any benefits that you'd get at V/P due to that status, and it won't be less than $100/night, but the rooms there are larger and would give your family a lot more space as well as being on the Strip. Maybe something worth looking into if you are willing to push the budget a bit.

Since your two kids will be with you, consider staying at the Excalibur. It is on the Strip and is child-friendly. Lots of arcade games on the mezzanine level. Their website is currently showing a basic room rate of $32 per night for April 10-11, plus tax. Resort fee is $34, I think.
Excalibur is on the south Strip, close to Luxor, MGM Grand, New York New York, Monte Carlo, and others.

Excalibur charges an extra $25 per person if there are more than 2 in the room - i.e. no "kids stay free" policy. I think all of the resorts do, except for Circus Circus and I wouldn't recommend that place to anyone.

Tuscany Suites is just off strip at $50 night + $24 resort fee and offers free parking. I haven't stayed there myself but friends have and thought it was quite nice and it has good reviews on tripadvisor. The rooms are 650 sq ft and have a sofa and chair, but have 2 double (not queen) beds.

What's wrong with Circus Circus? They have a motel-like annex and the regular hotel.

OK, to be fair, I've never actually stayed there, but I've always been curious about a hotel that advertises rooms for $22/night. So, one day when I had too much time on my hands, I decided to stop by to take a look. The entrance/casino was so smokey that I could hardly breathe and it was full of screaming children running around unsupervised while mom blew their inheritance in a slot machine and dad shopped at the gun show which was conveniently located around the lobby. All this to the incessant soundtrack of circus music. It was all just a little too...American...for me! But some people may like it

Seems rather difficult to enforce, given that you'll have to walk through most casino areas in LV to get to your room, the reception, restaurants, shops, pools, exhibitions, etc.

They're not allowed to stand by the slot machines while mom gambles, but there are several walkways around and through the casino for kids to get to and from the arcade games, circus acts, etc. It's all very open to the casino noise and smell of smoke.

Correct, when supervised by an adult, children are legally allowed to pass through most parts of the casino (even in close proximity to the machines), so as long as he or she keeps walking and does not stop.
